MAY 20 – Better With Less

3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 16:8; 2 Corinthians 10–11

“Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.” — Proverbs 16:8

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 10:17

“And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” — 2 Corinthians 11:14

Have you ever felt pressured to prove yourself—maybe by getting more likes, impressing certain people, or standing out in a crowd? Our world shouts that “more” means “better.” But the Bible challenges that idea.

Proverbs 16:8 reminds us that having a little with integrity is actually better than having a lot through shady means. 2 Corinthians 10–11 shows Paul defending his ministry, not by bragging about his success, but by pointing to God’s strength in his weakness. He even warns that things aren’t always what they seem—Satan himself can show up looking like something good. That’s why it’s so important to stay anchored in truth and live with godly character, not just outward success.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. What Really Matters? Are you chasing what looks impressive or what is truly right in God’s eyes? Remember, a little with righteousness is worth more to God than a lot gained the wrong way.

2. Who Gets the Credit? When people compliment you, do you give credit to God or try to boost your image? Paul said, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” That’s a mindset shift we all need.

3. Don’t Be Fooled by Appearances: Not everything that looks good is actually good. Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Are you paying attention to what’s truly from God?

BOTTOM LINE

God cares more about how you live than how much you have. When you live with honesty, humility, and a heart that points back to Him, you’re already winning.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Help me to choose what is right, even when it’s not popular or flashy. Teach me to value integrity over attention and faithfulness over fame. I want to live a life that brings You honor and not just one that impresses others. Help me recognize what’s truly from You and not be fooled by what only looks good.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
