AUGUST 31 – Standing for Justice3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 22:22–23; Jude 1//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate; for the Lord will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them.” — Proverbs 22:22–23 (ESV)“Beloved, when I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing that you contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” — Jude 1:3 (ESV)________________________________________It’s tempting to stay quiet when you see unfairness or injustice—maybe a classmate being bullied, someone being left out, or people being treated unfairly online. Proverbs 22 reminds us that God sees the struggles of the vulnerable and will act on their behalf. And Jude 1 calls us to actively contend for what is right, to stand up for truth and faith instead of staying silent.Standing for justice doesn’t always mean being loud or confrontational. Sometimes it means helping someone who is overlooked, speaking a kind word, or correcting false information. Other times it’s about defending your faith and values when peer pressure pushes you to compromise. God cares about fairness, truth, and protecting those who can’t defend themselves—and He equips you to be a part of His work in the world.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Notice the Overlooked: Are there people in your school, online circles, or family who feel overlooked or treated unfairly? How can you step in to show them support?2. Contend for What’s Right: Jude challenges us to defend the faith. How can you stand firm in your beliefs while also being respectful and loving toward others?3. Trust God’s Justice: When you see unfair situations, how does knowing that God “will plead their cause” (Proverbs 22:23) give you courage to act without fear?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEGod calls you to notice injustice, stand for what is right, and trust Him to work through your courage and faithfulness.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for caring about justice and for calling me to stand for what is right. Help me to notice those who are overlooked, defend truth with courage, and act with love and wisdom. Give me boldness to stand firm in my faith and trust that You will work all things for good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
