“The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.” — Proverbs 16:4 (ESV)

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” — Psalm 55:23 (ESV)

“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:18 (ESV)

Ever feel like life is random or unfair, like nothing really makes sense? Proverbs 16:4 reminds us that God made everything with a purpose—even the struggles and challenges we face. In Psalm 55, we see that God invites us to cast our worries on Him, proving that He wants to carry our burdens so we don’t collapse under the weight of life. And in 2 Corinthians 5, Paul shows us that we’ve been given a special calling to bring God’s love and reconciliation into the world—meaning our lives matter, and our actions can make a difference.

It’s easy to feel lost, especially in school, friendships, or social media drama, but God’s plan is bigger than any challenge. When we trust Him, cast our cares on Him, and choose to live as His ambassadors, every setback, heartbreak, or difficulty becomes part of a bigger picture. Even your mistakes and struggles can be used for something good if you let God work through them.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Purpose in Everything: How does knowing God has a purpose for even the difficult things in life (Proverbs 16:4) change the way you view challenges?

2. Let God Carry It: Are there worries or burdens you’ve been holding onto that God wants you to give Him (Psalm 55:23)? What would it look like to trust Him fully?

3. Your Mission: What is one way you can be a messenger of God’s love or reconciliation in your school, home, or friend group (2 Corinthians 5:18)?

BOTTOM LINE

Your life has meaning, your struggles have purpose, and God wants to use you to make a difference.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving my life meaning and for carrying my burdens when I feel overwhelmed. Help me to trust Your purpose in every situation and to be a light of Your love to those around me. Teach me to walk in the calling You’ve given me and to rely on You in every challenge. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

1
00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we
have devotional conversations

2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:07,800
rooted in scripture and relevant
for.

3
00:00:07,800 –> 00:00:13,720
Today, May 17th, life made for a
purpose.

4
00:00:14,120 –> 00:00:17,600
There are moments when life just
feels random, like things happen

5
00:00:17,600 –> 00:00:20,800
to you without reason, without
order, without anyone really

6
00:00:20,800 –> 00:00:23,960
steering the ship.
A friendship ends out of

7
00:00:23,960 –> 00:00:27,920
nowhere, a plan falls apart.
You work hard and it doesn’t

8
00:00:27,920 –> 00:00:30,840
seem to make a difference.
And in those moments, it’s

9
00:00:30,840 –> 00:00:34,000
tempting to wonder, does any of
this actually mean anything?

10
00:00:35,040 –> 00:00:39,560
Does my life have a point?
Proverbs chapter 16, verse 4

11
00:00:39,560 –> 00:00:43,240
speaks into that exact question.
The Lord has made everything for

12
00:00:43,240 –> 00:00:45,920
its purpose, even the wicked for
the day of trouble.

13
00:00:46,520 –> 00:00:50,040
That’s a striking verse because
it doesn’t just say the good

14
00:00:50,040 –> 00:00:54,240
things have purpose.
It says everything does, even

15
00:00:54,240 –> 00:00:57,320
the difficult things, even the
things that don’t make sense to

16
00:00:57,320 –> 00:01:00,040
you right now.
God is not improvising.

17
00:01:00,320 –> 00:01:03,320
He is not scrambling to fix a
story that went sideways.

18
00:01:04,319 –> 00:01:06,800
He is sovereignly,
intentionally, purposefully

19
00:01:06,800 –> 00:01:09,720
working in all of it.
That doesn’t make hard things

20
00:01:09,720 –> 00:01:12,440
easy, but it does mean they’re
not meaningless.

21
00:01:13,400 –> 00:01:17,120
Psalm 55, verse 23.
Add something deeply personal to

22
00:01:17,120 –> 00:01:19,640
that truth.
Cast your burden on the Lord,

23
00:01:19,800 –> 00:01:22,160
and He will sustain you.
He will never permit the

24
00:01:22,160 –> 00:01:25,720
righteous to be moved.
The word cast is active.

25
00:01:26,760 –> 00:01:29,400
It’s deliberate.
It’s not a passive hope that

26
00:01:29,400 –> 00:01:31,200
maybe God will notice your
burden.

27
00:01:31,400 –> 00:01:33,240
It’s an intentional handing
over.

28
00:01:33,680 –> 00:01:36,840
You pick up what’s weighing you
down and you throw it on to him.

29
00:01:37,960 –> 00:01:40,040
And the promise is that he will
sustain you.

30
00:01:40,440 –> 00:01:42,560
He will hold you up.
He will not let you be

31
00:01:42,560 –> 00:01:46,680
permanently shaken.
This is such a relevant word for

32
00:01:46,680 –> 00:01:50,080
where a lot of young people find
themselves anxious about the

33
00:01:50,080 –> 00:01:53,640
future, exhausted by pressures
that never seem to let up,

34
00:01:54,680 –> 00:01:57,120
hurting over things they don’t
have words for.

35
00:01:58,120 –> 00:02:01,680
God is saying you don’t have to
carry that alone, give it to me

36
00:02:01,800 –> 00:02:05,840
and I will keep you standing.
Then Second Corinthians chapter

37
00:02:05,840 –> 00:02:09,919
5, verse 18 unfolds your calling
in the most beautiful way.

38
00:02:10,440 –> 00:02:14,640
All this is from God, who
through Christ reconciled us to

39
00:02:14,640 –> 00:02:17,880
Himself and gave us the ministry
of reconciliation.

40
00:02:18,400 –> 00:02:23,000
You have been given a ministry,
a purpose, not just a general

41
00:02:23,000 –> 00:02:26,800
sense of meaning, but a specific
calling to be someone who brings

42
00:02:26,800 –> 00:02:29,720
God’s love and restoration into
broken spaces.

43
00:02:30,760 –> 00:02:33,800
Your school, your home, your
friend group, your community.

44
00:02:33,800 –> 00:02:36,720
These are your mission field.
Think about what that means

45
00:02:36,720 –> 00:02:39,600
practically.
The friend who’s going through

46
00:02:39,600 –> 00:02:42,280
something hard and needs someone
to just show up.

47
00:02:42,840 –> 00:02:44,960
The classmate who feels like an
outsider.

48
00:02:45,320 –> 00:02:47,960
The family member who’s been
difficult to love lately.

49
00:02:48,960 –> 00:02:51,320
Those are not inconveniences in
your story.

50
00:02:51,720 –> 00:02:54,840
There are opportunities to live
out the very reason God placed

51
00:02:54,840 –> 00:02:58,040
you where you are.
And here’s the thing about your

52
00:02:58,040 –> 00:03:00,320
struggles.
They don’t disqualify you from

53
00:03:00,320 –> 00:03:02,880
that mission.
They actually prepare you for

54
00:03:02,880 –> 00:03:04,720
it.
Because the people around you

55
00:03:04,720 –> 00:03:06,680
don’t need someone who has it
all together.

56
00:03:07,720 –> 00:03:10,320
They need someone who has walked
through hard things and still

57
00:03:10,320 –> 00:03:13,520
chose to trust God.
Someone who can say, I’ve been

58
00:03:13,520 –> 00:03:15,400
there and here’s what got me
through.

59
00:03:15,960 –> 00:03:20,360
Your life has meaning.
Your pain has purpose, and God

60
00:03:20,360 –> 00:03:22,800
wants to use both to make a
difference in the world around

61
00:03:22,800 –> 00:03:24,200
you.
Let’s pray.

62
00:03:25,240 –> 00:03:28,400
Heavenly Father, thank you for
the reminder that nothing in my

63
00:03:28,400 –> 00:03:32,000
life is wasted, Not the good
parts and not the hard parts.

64
00:03:33,000 –> 00:03:36,040
Help me to cast my burdens onto
You instead of carrying them

65
00:03:36,040 –> 00:03:39,720
alone, and to trust that You are
sustaining me even when I can’t

66
00:03:39,720 –> 00:03:42,360
feel it.
Show me how to walk in the

67
00:03:42,360 –> 00:03:45,440
calling You’ve given me, to be a
messenger of Your love and

68
00:03:45,440 –> 00:03:48,080
reconciliation in every space I
occupy.

69
00:03:48,680 –> 00:03:53,320
Use my life, all of it for your
purpose, in Jesus name, Amen.

70
00:03:53,920 –> 00:03:57,160
What if the battles hitting your
family are not random and your

71
00:03:57,160 –> 00:04:00,160
home can become a place where
darkness loses every right to

made everything for its own end,

yes, even the wicked for the day
of evil.

91
00:05:12,440 –> 00:05:17,480
Psalm Chapter 55 World English
Bible Listen to my prayer God,

92
00:05:18,520 –> 00:05:20,640
don’t hide yourself from my
supplication.

93
00:05:21,120 –> 00:05:25,160
Attend to me and answer me.
I am restless in my complaint

94
00:05:25,400 –> 00:05:28,080
and moan because of the voice of
the enemy, because of the

95
00:05:28,080 –> 00:05:32,120
oppression of the wicked, for
they bring suffering on me in

96
00:05:32,120 –> 00:05:33,960
anger.
They hold a grudge against me.

97
00:05:34,360 –> 00:05:36,440
My heart is severely pained
within me.

98
00:05:36,760 –> 00:05:38,720
The terrors of death have fallen
on me.

99
00:05:39,120 –> 00:05:41,360
Fearfulness and trembling have
come on me.

100
00:05:42,360 –> 00:05:45,760
Horror has overwhelmed me.
I said, Oh, that I had wings

101
00:05:45,760 –> 00:05:48,440
like a dove.
Then I would fly away and be at

102
00:05:48,440 –> 00:05:50,800
rest.
Behold, then I would wander far

103
00:05:50,800 –> 00:05:53,800
off.
I would lodge in the wilderness.

104
00:05:54,240 –> 00:05:57,240
I would hurry to a shelter from
the stormy wind and storm.

105
00:05:57,800 –> 00:06:01,600
Confuse them, Lord, and confound
their language, for I have seen

106
00:06:01,600 –> 00:06:06,000
violence and strife in the city.
Day and night they prowl around

107
00:06:06,000 –> 00:06:09,080
on its walls.
Malice and abuse are also within

108
00:06:09,080 –> 00:06:11,200
her.
Destructive forces are within

109
00:06:11,200 –> 00:06:13,560
her.
Threats and lies don’t depart

110
00:06:13,560 –> 00:06:16,720
from her streets.
For it was not an enemy who

111
00:06:16,720 –> 00:06:19,120
insulted me then I could have
endured it.

112
00:06:19,640 –> 00:06:22,800
Neither was it he who hated me,
who raised himself up against

113
00:06:22,800 –> 00:06:24,640
me.
Then I would have hidden myself

114
00:06:24,640 –> 00:06:28,120
from him.
But it was you, a man like me,

115
00:06:28,120 –> 00:06:30,240
my companion and my familiar
friend.

116
00:06:30,760 –> 00:06:32,440
We took sweet fellowship
together.

117
00:06:32,680 –> 00:06:34,560
We walked in God’s house with
company.

118
00:06:34,800 –> 00:06:38,840
Let death come suddenly on them.
Let them go down alive into

119
00:06:38,840 –> 00:06:41,880
Sheol, for wickedness is among
them in their dwelling.

120
00:06:42,320 –> 00:06:46,640
As for me, I will call on God.
Yahweh will save me evening,

121
00:06:46,640 –> 00:06:49,360
morning, and at noon.
I will cry out in distress.

122
00:06:50,320 –> 00:06:53,720
He will hear my voice.
He has redeemed my soul in peace

123
00:06:53,720 –> 00:06:55,360
from the battle that was against
me.

124
00:06:55,560 –> 00:06:59,280
Although there are many who
oppose me, God who is enthroned

125
00:06:59,280 –> 00:07:01,240
forever will hear and answer
them.

126
00:07:02,040 –> 00:07:04,200
They never change who don’t fear
God.

127
00:07:04,560 –> 00:07:06,560
He raises his hands against his
friends.

128
00:07:06,920 –> 00:07:10,600
He has violated his covenant.
His mouth was smooth as butter,

129
00:07:10,600 –> 00:07:14,680
but his heart was war.
His words were softer than oil,

130
00:07:14,800 –> 00:07:18,320
yet they were drawn swords.
Cast your burden on Yahweh, and

131
00:07:18,320 –> 00:07:20,720
He will sustain you.
He will never allow the

132
00:07:20,720 –> 00:07:24,960
righteous to be moved, but you.
God will bring them down into

133
00:07:24,960 –> 00:07:28,200
the pit of destruction.
Bloodthirsty and deceitful men

134
00:07:28,200 –> 00:07:29,920
shall not live out half their
days.

135
00:07:30,200 –> 00:07:33,880
But I will trust in you.
Second Corinthians Chapter 5

136
00:07:34,880 –> 00:07:37,920
World English Bible.
For we know that if the earthly

137
00:07:37,920 –> 00:07:41,600
House of our tent is dissolved,
we have a building from God, a

138
00:07:41,600 –> 00:07:44,560
house not made with hands
eternal in the heavens.

139
00:07:45,560 –> 00:07:49,000
For most certainly in this we
groan, longing to be clothed

140
00:07:49,000 –> 00:07:52,120
with our habitation, which is
from heaven, if indeed being

141
00:07:52,120 –> 00:07:54,360
clothed, we will not be found
naked.

142
00:07:55,440 –> 00:07:59,080
For indeed we who are in this
tent do groan, being burdened,

143
00:07:59,240 –> 00:08:02,680
not that we desire to be
unclothed, but that we desire to

144
00:08:02,680 –> 00:08:06,160
be clothed, that what is mortal
may be swallowed up by life.

145
00:08:07,240 –> 00:08:11,040
Now he who made us for this very
thing is God, who also gave to

146
00:08:11,080 –> 00:08:12,760
us the down payment of the
Spirit.

147
00:08:13,840 –> 00:08:16,840
Therefore we are always
confident and know that while we

148
00:08:16,840 –> 00:08:19,560
are at home in the body, we are
absent from the Lord.

149
00:08:19,920 –> 00:08:22,080
For we walk by faith, not by
sight.

150
00:08:23,120 –> 00:08:26,480
We are courageous, I say, and
are willing rather to be absent

151
00:08:26,480 –> 00:08:28,680
from the body, and to be at home
with the Lord.

152
00:08:29,280 –> 00:08:32,840
Therefore also we make it our
aim, whether at home or absent,

153
00:08:32,960 –> 00:08:36,840
to be well pleasing to Him.
For we must all be revealed

154
00:08:36,840 –> 00:08:39,559
before the judgment seat of
Christ, that each one may

155
00:08:39,559 –> 00:08:42,640
receive the things in the body
according to what he has done,

156
00:08:42,919 –> 00:08:46,680
whether good or bad.
Knowing therefore the fear of

157
00:08:46,680 –> 00:08:50,200
the Lord, we persuade men, but
we are revealed to God.

158
00:08:50,680 –> 00:08:53,560
And I hope that we are revealed
also in your consciences.

159
00:08:54,560 –> 00:08:57,360
For we are not commending
ourselves to you again, but

160
00:08:57,360 –> 00:09:00,920
speak as giving you occasion of
boasting on our behalf, that you

161
00:09:00,920 –> 00:09:03,760
may have something to answer
those who boast in appearance

162
00:09:03,960 –> 00:09:07,480
and not in heart.
For if we are beside ourselves,

163
00:09:07,480 –> 00:09:11,080
it is for God, or if we are of
sober mind, it is for you.

164
00:09:11,600 –> 00:09:14,600
For the love of Christ
constrains us, because we judge

165
00:09:14,600 –> 00:09:17,400
thus that one died for all.
Therefore all died.

166
00:09:18,480 –> 00:09:21,440
He died for all, that those who
live should no longer live to

167
00:09:21,440 –> 00:09:25,360
themselves, but to Him who for
their sakes died and rose again.

168
00:09:25,880 –> 00:09:28,600
Therefore we know no one after
the flesh from now on.

169
00:09:29,640 –> 00:09:32,840
Even though we have known Christ
after the flesh, yet now we know

170
00:09:32,840 –> 00:09:35,560
Him, so no more.
Therefore, if anyone is in

171
00:09:35,560 –> 00:09:39,600
Christ, He is a new creation.
The old things have passed away.

172
00:09:40,600 –> 00:09:45,120
Behold, all things have become
new, but all things are of God,

173
00:09:45,360 –> 00:09:48,920
who reconciled us to Himself
through Jesus Christ, and gave

174
00:09:48,920 –> 00:09:52,960
to us the ministry of
reconciliation, namely, that God

175
00:09:52,960 –> 00:09:57,120
was in Christ reconciling the
world to Himself, not reckoning

176
00:09:57,120 –> 00:10:00,480
to them their trespasses, and
having committed to us the word

177
00:10:00,480 –> 00:10:04,480
of reconciliation.
We are therefore ambassadors on

178
00:10:04,480 –> 00:10:07,560
behalf of Christ, as though God
were entreating by us.

179
00:10:07,960 –> 00:10:12,800
We beg you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God for him who

180
00:10:12,800 –> 00:10:16,920
knew no sin, He made to be sin
on our behalf, so that in him we

181
00:10:16,920 –> 00:10:18,840
might become the righteousness
of God.

182
00:10:20,960 –> 00:10:22,920
Thanks.
