3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 14:32–33; Psalm 47; Romans 9

“The wicked is overthrown through his evildoing, but the righteous finds refuge in his death. Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding, but it makes itself known even in the midst of fools.” — Proverbs 14:32–33 (ESV)
“For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.” — Psalm 47:7–8 (ESV)
“So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy… So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.” — Romans 9:18 (ESV)

Have you ever felt like life was spinning out of control—like no matter how hard you try, things just don’t go your way? Maybe a friendship fell apart, a dream didn’t happen, or the future feels uncertain. Psalm 47 reminds us that no matter what’s happening around us, God is still on the throne, ruling over everything. Proverbs 14 tells us that even when life gets hard—even in death—the righteous have a safe place in God. And in Romans 9, we learn that God’s mercy and plans aren’t based on how perfect we are or how hard we try but on His love and purpose.
That means your confidence doesn’t have to come from your grades, your reputation, or even having everything figured out. It comes from knowing the King who rules the universe—and that He’s for you.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. God’s Throne Doesn’t Shake: What would it look like to trust that God is truly in control when life feels unpredictable or disappointing?
2. Safe in His Hands: Proverbs 14 says the righteous find refuge even in death. How does knowing God holds your life and future help you face fear or uncertainty?
3. Mercy Over Effort: Romans 9 shows that God’s mercy isn’t earned by doing everything right. How can this free you from trying to “earn” God’s love or approval?
________________________________________
BOTTOM LINE
No matter what life throws at you, your confidence and security rest in the God who reigns and shows mercy.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are on the throne and nothing can shake Your rule. Help me to trust Your mercy and rest in Your control even when life feels uncertain. Teach me to rely on Your love instead of my own efforts so I can walk in confidence and peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we
have devotional conversations
2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:10,960
rooted in Scripture and relevant
for today, April 25th.
3
00:00:11,080 –> 00:00:14,280
Unshaken confidence.
Life can feel unstable so
4
00:00:14,280 –> 00:00:16,880
quickly.
Plans change, people disappoint
5
00:00:16,880 –> 00:00:21,680
you, the future feels unclear.
You try your best but still
6
00:00:21,680 –> 00:00:26,440
cannot control everything.
Proverbs chapter 14 verses 32 to
7
00:00:26,440 –> 00:00:30,760
33 says that the righteous find
refuge and that wisdom rests in
8
00:00:30,760 –> 00:00:32,640
the heart of a person of
understanding.
9
00:00:33,760 –> 00:00:38,320
Psalm 47, verses 7 to 8 says God
is the king of all the earth and
10
00:00:38,320 –> 00:00:41,800
God reigns over the nation’s.
That truth is an anchor.
11
00:00:41,920 –> 00:00:46,320
God reigns not just when life
makes sense, not just when
12
00:00:46,320 –> 00:00:49,720
prayers are answered the way you
hoped, not just when things feel
13
00:00:49,720 –> 00:00:52,240
calm.
God reigns when the world feels
14
00:00:52,240 –> 00:00:55,200
loud, when your heart feels
uncertain, and when you cannot
15
00:00:55,200 –> 00:00:59,400
see what comes next.
Romans Chapter 9 reminds us that
16
00:00:59,400 –> 00:01:02,560
God’s mercy and purpose are not
based on human striving.
17
00:01:03,120 –> 00:01:05,680
That can be humbling, but it is
also freeing.
18
00:01:06,800 –> 00:01:09,520
Your security does not rest on
your ability to perform
19
00:01:09,520 –> 00:01:12,800
perfectly, control outcomes, or
earn God’s love.
20
00:01:13,320 –> 00:01:16,640
It rests on His mercy.
Unshaken confidence is not
21
00:01:16,640 –> 00:01:20,840
pretending you are never afraid.
It is knowing where to run when
22
00:01:20,840 –> 00:01:23,200
fear comes.
It is remembering that the
23
00:01:23,200 –> 00:01:26,480
throne of God does not shake
just because your circumstances
24
00:01:26,480 –> 00:01:29,400
do.
Your grades, reputation,
25
00:01:29,400 –> 00:01:32,280
relationships, and future
matter, but they are not strong
26
00:01:32,280 –> 00:01:35,240
enough to carry your identity,
only God is.
27
00:01:35,600 –> 00:01:37,840
So when life feels uncertain,
look higher.
28
00:01:38,880 –> 00:01:42,240
The King is still on his throne.
His wisdom is still true.
29
00:01:42,400 –> 00:01:45,720
His mercy is still enough.
You can rest because your life
30
00:01:45,720 –> 00:01:48,440
is held by someone stronger than
your circumstances.
31
00:01:48,960 –> 00:01:52,360
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, thank you that
32
00:01:52,360 –> 00:01:55,920
you reign over everything.
When life feels uncertain, help
33
00:01:55,920 –> 00:01:59,200
me find refuge in you.
Teach me to trust Your mercy
34
00:01:59,200 –> 00:02:01,720
instead of relying on my own
efforts or control.
35
00:02:02,800 –> 00:02:05,800
Give me wisdom, peace, and
unshaken confidence because my
36
00:02:05,800 –> 00:02:09,160
life is in your hands.
In Jesus name, Amen.
37
00:02:13,080 –> 00:02:15,880
What if you could rise up and
declare with full spiritual
38
00:02:15,880 –> 00:02:18,480
authority, I shall not die, but
live?

Now I invite you to spend time
with God in today’s three-year
58
00:03:13,880 –> 00:03:19,280
Bible reading plan.
Proverbs chapter 14, verses 32
59
00:03:19,280 –> 00:03:23,720
to 33 World English Bible.
The wicked is brought down in
60
00:03:23,720 –> 00:03:26,840
his calamity, but in death the
righteous has a refuge.
61
00:03:27,960 –> 00:03:31,120
Wisdom rests in the heart of one
who has understanding and is
62
00:03:31,120 –> 00:03:33,520
even made known in the inward
part of fools.
63
00:03:34,080 –> 00:03:38,840
Psalm chapter 47 World English
Bible for the chief musician.
64
00:03:39,920 –> 00:03:43,120
A Psalm by the sons of Korra.
Oh, clap your hands all you
65
00:03:43,120 –> 00:03:45,480
nations.
Shout to God with the voice of
66
00:03:45,480 –> 00:03:47,960
triumph, for Yahweh Most High is
awesome.
67
00:03:48,280 –> 00:03:50,080
He is a great king over all the
earth.
68
00:03:51,200 –> 00:03:54,080
He subdues nations under us and
peoples under our feet.
69
00:03:54,520 –> 00:03:57,440
He chooses our inheritance for
us, the glory of Jacob whom he
70
00:03:57,440 –> 00:03:58,800
loved.
Selah.
71
00:03:59,880 –> 00:04:02,360
God has gone up with a shout,
Yahweh with the sound of a
72
00:04:02,360 –> 00:04:04,680
trumpet.
Sing praises to God.
73
00:04:04,800 –> 00:04:07,400
Sing praises.
Sing praises to our king.
74
00:04:07,520 –> 00:04:10,520
Sing praises, for God is the
king of all the earth.
75
00:04:11,600 –> 00:04:15,520
Sing praises with understanding.
God reigns over the nations.
76
00:04:15,920 –> 00:04:19,399
God sits on His holy throne.
The Princess of the peoples are
77
00:04:19,399 –> 00:04:22,240
gathered together, the people of
the God of Abraham.
78
00:04:23,360 –> 00:04:25,360
For the Shields of the earth
belong to God.
79
00:04:25,600 –> 00:04:29,560
He is greatly exalted.
Romans Chapter 9 World English
80
00:04:29,560 –> 00:04:31,760
Bible I tell the truth in
Christ.
81
00:04:32,840 –> 00:04:36,360
I am not lying, my conscience
testifying with me in the Holy
82
00:04:36,360 –> 00:04:40,000
Spirit, that I have great sorrow
and unceasing pain in my heart.
83
00:04:41,120 –> 00:04:44,080
For I could wish that I myself
were a cursed from Christ for my
84
00:04:44,080 –> 00:04:47,200
brothers sake.
My relatives according to the
85
00:04:47,200 –> 00:04:51,200
flesh, who are Israelites, whose
is the adoption, the glory, the
86
00:04:51,200 –> 00:04:54,760
covenants, the giving of the
law, the service and the
87
00:04:54,760 –> 00:04:56,960
promises, Of whom are the
fathers?
88
00:04:57,200 –> 00:05:00,200
And from whom is Christ, as
concerning the flesh, who is
89
00:05:00,200 –> 00:05:04,040
over all God blessed forever,
Amen.
90
00:05:04,160 –> 00:05:07,560
But it is not as though the Word
of God has come to nothing, for
91
00:05:07,560 –> 00:05:09,840
they are not all Israel that are
of Israel.
92
00:05:10,360 –> 00:05:13,520
Neither because they are
Abraham’s offspring are they all
93
00:05:13,520 –> 00:05:16,360
children.
But your offspring will be
94
00:05:16,360 –> 00:05:20,240
accounted as from Isaac.
That is, it is not the children
95
00:05:20,240 –> 00:05:23,200
of the flesh who are children of
God, but the children of the
96
00:05:23,200 –> 00:05:27,600
promise are counted as heirs.
For this is a word of promise.
97
00:05:27,960 –> 00:05:30,960
At the appointed time I will
come, and Sarah will have a son.
98
00:05:31,560 –> 00:05:35,360
Not only so, but Rebecca also,
conceived by one by our Father
99
00:05:35,360 –> 00:05:39,640
Isaac, for being not yet born,
neither having done anything
100
00:05:39,640 –> 00:05:43,240
good or bad, that the purpose of
God according to election might
101
00:05:43,240 –> 00:05:46,200
stand not of works, but of him
who calls.
102
00:05:46,200 –> 00:05:49,360
It was said to her.
The elder will serve the
103
00:05:49,360 –> 00:05:53,440
younger, even as it is written.
Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.
104
00:05:53,880 –> 00:05:57,320
What shall we say then?
Is there unrighteousness with
105
00:05:57,320 –> 00:05:59,120
God?
May it never be.
106
00:06:00,160 –> 00:06:03,680
For he said to Moses, I will
have mercy on whom I have mercy,
107
00:06:03,880 –> 00:06:06,480
and I will have compassion on
whom I have compassion.
108
00:06:07,160 –> 00:06:10,800
So then it is not of him who
wills, nor of him who runs, but
109
00:06:10,800 –> 00:06:14,240
of God who has mercy.
For the Scripture says to
110
00:06:14,240 –> 00:06:18,000
Pharaoh, for this very purpose I
caused you to be raised up, that
111
00:06:18,000 –> 00:06:20,600
I might show in you my power,
and that my name might be
112
00:06:20,600 –> 00:06:25,600
proclaimed in all the earth.
So then He has mercy on whom he
113
00:06:25,600 –> 00:06:28,240
desires, and he hardens whom he
desires.
114
00:06:29,360 –> 00:06:31,920
You will say then to me, why
does he still find fault?
115
00:06:32,000 –> 00:06:35,640
For who withstands His will?
But indeed, O man, who are you
116
00:06:35,640 –> 00:06:39,400
to reply against God?
Well, the thing formed, ask him
117
00:06:39,400 –> 00:06:41,840
who formed it.
Why did you make me like this?
118
00:06:42,360 –> 00:06:45,240
Or hasn’t the Potter a right
over the clay from the same
119
00:06:45,240 –> 00:06:49,040
lump, to make one part a vessel
for honor, and another for
120
00:06:49,040 –> 00:06:52,680
dishonor?
What if God, willing to show His
121
00:06:52,680 –> 00:06:55,880
wrath, and to make His power
known, endured with much
122
00:06:55,880 –> 00:06:59,760
patience vessels of wrath
prepared for destruction, and
123
00:06:59,760 –> 00:07:02,480
that He might make known the
riches of His glory on vessels
124
00:07:02,480 –> 00:07:05,520
of mercy which He prepared
beforehand for glory?
125
00:07:05,880 –> 00:07:10,080
Us whom He also called not from
the Jews only, but also from the
126
00:07:10,080 –> 00:07:13,520
Gentiles, as He says also in
Hosea.
127
00:07:13,720 –> 00:07:16,720
I will call them My people,
which were not My people, and
128
00:07:16,720 –> 00:07:20,560
her beloved who was not beloved.
It will be that in the place
129
00:07:20,560 –> 00:07:24,360
where it was said to them, You
are not My people, though they
130
00:07:24,360 –> 00:07:26,440
will be called children of the
living God.
131
00:07:27,080 –> 00:07:30,600
Isaiah cries concerning Israel.
If the number of the children of
132
00:07:30,600 –> 00:07:34,640
Israel are as the sand of the
sea, it is the remnant who will
133
00:07:34,640 –> 00:07:37,840
be saved, for he will finish the
work and cut it short in
134
00:07:37,840 –> 00:07:40,880
righteousness, because the Lord
will make a short work upon the
135
00:07:40,880 –> 00:07:43,640
earth.
As Isaiah has said before,
136
00:07:44,720 –> 00:07:47,760
unless the Lord of armies had
left us a seed, we would have
137
00:07:47,760 –> 00:07:50,600
become like Sodom and would have
been made like Gomorrah.
138
00:07:51,200 –> 00:07:54,880
What shall we say then?
That the Gentiles who didn’t
139
00:07:54,880 –> 00:07:58,080
follow after righteousness
attained to righteousness, even
140
00:07:58,080 –> 00:07:59,600
the righteousness which is of
faith.
141
00:08:00,200 –> 00:08:04,720
But Israel following after a law
of righteousness didn’t arrive
142
00:08:04,720 –> 00:08:07,600
at the law of righteousness.
Why?
143
00:08:07,600 –> 00:08:10,640
Because they didn’t seek it by
faith, but as it were by works
144
00:08:10,640 –> 00:08:13,720
of the law.
They stumbled over the stumbling
145
00:08:13,720 –> 00:08:17,720
stone even as it is written,
Behold, I lay in Zion, a
146
00:08:17,720 –> 00:08:19,680
stumbling stone and a rock of
offense.
147
00:08:20,080 –> 00:08:22,440
And no one who believes in him
will be disappointed.
