MAY 16 – Fully Committed

3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 16:3; 2 Corinthians 4

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Have you ever felt like you’re working really hard at something—school, friendships, sports—but still not seeing the results you hoped for? It’s frustrating when your plans fall apart, especially when you’re giving it your all.

Proverbs 16:3 gives us a huge piece of wisdom: God doesn’t just want our effort—He wants our commitment. And 2 Corinthians 4 reminds us that even when things are tough or slow to change, God is working in us, renewing us and building something that lasts forever.

When we give our work and our hearts fully to Him, He transforms it into something way more meaningful than we could on our own.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. What does it mean to “commit”?

It’s more than just asking God to “bless” what you’re doing. Committing means trusting Him with the outcome, even when things don’t go how you planned.

2. God’s perspective is bigger than ours:

Paul calls our troubles “light and momentary”—not because they’re easy, but because God is doing something eternal through them. What’s something you’re going through right now that might feel different if you saw it from God’s view?

3. God renews us daily:

Life wears us down, but God promises renewal from the inside out. Are you letting Him strengthen your inner self, or are you trying to power through on your own?

BOTTOM LINE

When you commit your work, dreams, and struggles to God, He doesn’t just fix your plans—He forms your heart. What feels heavy or hard now is preparing something amazing in you that will last forever.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for seeing the big picture when I can’t. Help me to commit all I do to You—not just the big stuff, but everything. When I feel like quitting or when things don’t go my way, remind me that You’re still at work in me. Teach me to trust You with both the process and the outcome. Renew my heart every day so I can walk with purpose and peace.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
