MAY 22 – Following the Right Voice

“An oracle is on the lips of a king; his mouth does not sin in judgment.” — Proverbs 16:10

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” — Galatians 2:20

It’s not always easy to know who to listen to. Your friends say one thing, social media says another, and sometimes, even adults can contradict each other. In Proverbs 16:10–15, we’re reminded that true leadership comes from wisdom rooted in righteousness.

Meanwhile, in Galatians 1–2, Paul shares how he stopped living to impress others and started living to honor Christ. He knew that if he wanted to serve God faithfully, he couldn’t let popular opinion control him. That’s something we all face—choosing whose voice we follow.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Approval vs. Truth: Who are you trying to impress—God or people? Take a moment to reflect on Galatians 1:10. What does it look like for you to live to please God today?

2. Living with Purpose: Paul says, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). What are some ways you can let Jesus lead your thoughts, words, and decisions this week?

3. Wise Influence: Proverbs 16 reminds us that leaders are meant to speak and act with justice. Whether you’re leading in school, youth group, or at home, how can your words reflect God’s wisdom?

BOTTOM LINE

Don’t let pressure from others steer your life. Like Paul, choose to live for the One who gave everything for you. When Jesus lives in you, you don’t have to prove yourself—you just have to follow Him.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Help me to stop chasing approval from others and start listening to Your voice above all. I want to be someone who lives with wisdom, courage, and truth. Teach me to follow Jesus more closely and let His life be seen in me.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
