“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; whoever guards his way preserves his life.” — Proverbs 16:16–17
“So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.” — Galatians 3:24
“So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.” — Galatians 4:7

Ever feel like you have to earn your worth—whether it’s getting perfect grades, being noticed on social media, or proving yourself to your friends or family? It’s easy to chase things that the world tells us matter—like popularity, money, or success—but Proverbs 16:16–17 reminds us that wisdom and understanding are way more valuable than all that.
In Galatians 3–4, Paul explains that we are no longer trying to earn our place with God through rules. Instead, we are welcomed into His family by faith. You’re not just someone trying to measure up—you’re God’s child, deeply loved and accepted. That truth can change everything about how you live and what you chase after.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. What Are You Chasing? Are you more focused on gaining popularity, money, or stuff—or growing in wisdom and understanding? What would it look like to make God’s wisdom your top priority?
2. Faith Over Rules: Galatians teaches that we’re justified by faith, not by following a bunch of religious rules. Do you ever feel like you need to “do more” to be right with God? How does knowing you’re accepted by faith change that?
3. Know Your Identity: If you truly believed you were God’s child and heir (Galatians 4:7), how would that affect your self-worth and the choices you make every day?

BOTTOM LINE
You don’t have to earn God’s love or your place in His family. In Christ, you are already a beloved child and heir. Choose wisdom over worldly success, and live like someone who knows they belong.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You that I don’t have to earn Your love. Help me to value wisdom more than anything the world offers. Teach me to trust in faith, not in trying to be perfect. Remind me daily that I am Your child and heir, and help me to live like it—with confidence, love, and purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
