“Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!” — Proverbs 15:22–23 (ESV)

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but I will not be dominated by anything.” — 1 Corinthians 10:23 (ESV)

________________________________________

Have you ever had a plan that didn’t work out the way you hoped? Maybe you acted too quickly, didn’t ask for advice, or didn’t think about the consequences. Proverbs 15:22 reminds us that plans succeed when we seek counsel and listen to wise guidance. In 1 Corinthians 10, Paul talks about choices and temptations, reminding us that we’re never alone in facing challenges—God provides a way to overcome and stay on the right path. Even when something seems “okay” on the surface, not every choice is helpful, and some can take control of your life without you realizing it (1 Corinthians 10:23).

Life is full of decisions—what to say, who to hang out with, what to prioritize—but God gives wisdom, guidance, and escape routes from the things that would lead us astray. Listening to advice, seeking God’s guidance, and making choices that honor Him are habits that will pay off now and in the future.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Seek Wise Counsel: Who are the trusted people in your life that you can go to for advice before making big decisions (Proverbs 15:22)?

2. Recognize Temptation: How can you identify when a choice might be harmful or dominating your life, even if it seems harmless (1 Corinthians 10:23–13)?

3. Choose God’s Path: When faced with a tough decision, how can you pause, pray, and look for God’s “way of escape” before acting (1 Corinthians 10:13)?

BOTTOM LINE

Plans succeed and temptations are overcome when we seek God’s guidance, follow wise counsel, and make choices that honor Him.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for always giving me guidance and a way out of temptations. Help me to seek wise counsel, think through my choices, and rely on You in every decision I make. Teach me to honor You in all I do and to trust that Your ways lead to success and peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we
have devotional conversations

2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:07,800
rooted in scripture and relevant
for.

3
00:00:07,800 –> 00:00:13,760
Today, May 7th, Plans, choices,
and God’s guidance.

4
00:00:14,200 –> 00:00:16,880
Have you ever made a choice that
looked harmless at first, but

5
00:00:16,880 –> 00:00:19,960
slowly started taking over more
of your heart than you expected?

6
00:00:20,400 –> 00:00:25,680
A habit, a friendship, a secret,
a desire, a distraction.

7
00:00:26,160 –> 00:00:29,600
Sometimes the danger is not that
something looks obviously wrong,

8
00:00:29,920 –> 00:00:32,280
it is that it quietly begins to
dominate you.

9
00:00:33,360 –> 00:00:38,640
Proverbs chapter 15 verses 22 to
23 says without counsel plans

10
00:00:38,640 –> 00:00:42,800
fail, but with many advisors
they succeed to make an

11
00:00:42,800 –> 00:00:45,120
apartment.
Answer is a joy to a man and a

12
00:00:45,120 –> 00:00:49,560
word in season how good it is.
First Corinthians chapter 10

13
00:00:49,560 –> 00:00:54,080
verse 13 says that no temptation
has overtaken you except what is

14
00:00:54,080 –> 00:00:58,360
common to man and that God is
faithful and will provide the

15
00:00:58,360 –> 00:01:01,840
way of escape.
Then First Corinthians chapter

16
00:01:01,840 –> 00:01:06,280
10 verse 23 says all things are
lawful for me, but not all

17
00:01:06,280 –> 00:01:09,040
things are helpful.
All things are lawful for me,

18
00:01:10,000 –> 00:01:12,200
but I will not be dominated by
anything.

19
00:01:12,680 –> 00:01:16,600
That is wisdom for real life.
You do not have to figure

20
00:01:16,600 –> 00:01:19,840
everything out alone.
God often protects you through

21
00:01:19,840 –> 00:01:24,160
wise counsel, a parent, a
mentor, a pastor, a trusted

22
00:01:24,160 –> 00:01:27,280
friend, or someone who loves you
enough to tell you the truth.

23
00:01:28,320 –> 00:01:31,800
Plans can fail when we are too
proud to ask for help, but there

24
00:01:31,800 –> 00:01:35,960
is safety and humble listening.
And when temptation comes, God

25
00:01:35,960 –> 00:01:37,920
does not shame you for being
tempted.

26
00:01:38,960 –> 00:01:42,160
He reminds you that you are not
alone, and He provides a way of

27
00:01:42,160 –> 00:01:44,280
escape.
There is always a moment to

28
00:01:44,280 –> 00:01:48,200
pause, a door to walk away from,
a message you do not have to

29
00:01:48,200 –> 00:01:53,480
send, a website you can close, a
conversation you can leave, a

30
00:01:53,480 –> 00:01:56,560
prayer you can whisper.
The question is not only can I

31
00:01:56,560 –> 00:02:00,440
do this, sometimes the better
question is, is this helping me

32
00:02:00,440 –> 00:02:05,720
become who God called me to be?
Let’s pray Heavenly Father guide

33
00:02:05,720 –> 00:02:09,800
my plans and shape my choices.
Give me humility to seek wise

34
00:02:09,800 –> 00:02:12,800
counsel and courage to listen
when you correct my direction.

35
00:02:13,840 –> 00:02:17,000
When temptation comes, help me
see the way of escape and take

36
00:02:17,000 –> 00:02:19,240
it.
Do not let anything dominate my

37
00:02:19,240 –> 00:02:21,120
heart except your love and Your
will.

38
00:02:21,560 –> 00:02:25,560
Lead me in the path that honors
you in Jesus name, Amen.

39
00:02:26,120 –> 00:02:29,360
What if the battles hitting your
family are not random and your

40
00:02:29,360 –> 00:02:32,360
home can become a place where
darkness loses every right to

41
00:02:32,360 –> 00:02:35,240
stay?

56
00:03:29,400 –> 00:03:32,360
Now I invite you to spend time
with God in today’s three-year

57
00:03:32,360 –> 00:03:37,880
Bible reading plan.
Proverbs chapter 15 verses 22 to

58
00:03:37,880 –> 00:03:41,880
23 World English Bible where
there is no counsel.

59
00:03:42,000 –> 00:03:45,120
Plans fail, but in a multitude
of counselors they are

60
00:03:45,120 –> 00:03:47,840
established.
Joy comes to a man with the

61
00:03:47,840 –> 00:03:51,200
reply of his mouth.
How good is a word at the right

62
00:03:51,200 –> 00:03:53,800
time?
First Corinthians Chapter 10

63
00:03:54,080 –> 00:03:58,720
World English Bible Now I would
not have you ignorant brothers,

64
00:03:59,000 –> 00:04:02,080
that our fathers were all under
the cloud and all pass through

65
00:04:02,080 –> 00:04:05,840
the sea, and we’re all baptized
into Moses in the cloud and in

66
00:04:05,840 –> 00:04:10,480
the sea, and all ate the same
spiritual food and all drank the

67
00:04:10,480 –> 00:04:14,800
same spiritual drink, for they
drank of a spiritual rock that

68
00:04:14,800 –> 00:04:17,079
followed them, and the rock was
Christ.

69
00:04:17,640 –> 00:04:21,000
However, with most of them God
was not well pleased, for they

70
00:04:21,000 –> 00:04:22,640
were overthrown in the
wilderness.

71
00:04:23,640 –> 00:04:26,720
Now these things were our
examples to the intent we should

72
00:04:26,720 –> 00:04:29,720
not lust after evil things as
they also lusted.

73
00:04:30,280 –> 00:04:32,440
Don’t be idolaters, as some of
them were.

74
00:04:33,480 –> 00:04:37,000
As it is written, the people sat
down to eat and drink, and rose

75
00:04:37,000 –> 00:04:39,640
up to play.
Let’s not commit sexual

76
00:04:39,640 –> 00:04:43,600
immorality, as some of them
committed, and in one day 23,000

77
00:04:43,600 –> 00:04:46,920
fell.
Let’s not test Christ, as some

78
00:04:46,920 –> 00:04:49,280
of them tested and perished by
the serpents.

79
00:04:49,800 –> 00:04:53,120
Don’t grumble as some of them
also grumbled and perished by

80
00:04:53,120 –> 00:04:56,520
the destroyer.
Now all these things happen to

81
00:04:56,520 –> 00:04:59,920
them by way of example, and they
were written for our admonition

82
00:05:00,240 –> 00:05:02,200
on whom the ends of the ages
have come.

83
00:05:03,280 –> 00:05:06,200
Therefore let him who thinks he
stands be careful that he

84
00:05:06,200 –> 00:05:09,160
doesn’t fall.
No temptation has taken you

85
00:05:09,440 –> 00:05:13,960
except what is common to man.
God is faithful who will not

86
00:05:13,960 –> 00:05:17,280
allow you to be tempted above
what you are able, but will with

87
00:05:17,280 –> 00:05:20,920
the temptation also make the way
of escape, that you may be able

88
00:05:20,920 –> 00:05:24,560
to endure it.
Therefore, my beloved, flee from

89
00:05:24,560 –> 00:05:27,000
idolatry.
I speak as to wise men.

90
00:05:27,320 –> 00:05:29,920
Judge what I say.
The cup of blessing which we

91
00:05:29,920 –> 00:05:32,320
bless, isn’t it a sharing of the
blood of Christ?

92
00:05:33,360 –> 00:05:36,120
The bread which we break, isn’t
it a sharing of the body of

93
00:05:36,120 –> 00:05:38,400
Christ?
Because there is one loaf of

94
00:05:38,400 –> 00:05:40,960
bread?
We who are many are one body,

95
00:05:41,280 –> 00:05:43,560
for we all partake of the one
loaf of bread.

96
00:05:44,560 –> 00:05:46,760
Consider Israel according to the
flesh.

97
00:05:47,240 –> 00:05:50,040
Don’t those who eat the
sacrifices participate in the

98
00:05:50,040 –> 00:05:52,040
altar?
What am I saying then?

99
00:05:52,360 –> 00:05:56,160
That a thing sacrificed to idols
is anything, or that an idol is

100
00:05:56,160 –> 00:05:59,400
anything but?
I say that the things which the

101
00:05:59,400 –> 00:06:03,480
Gentiles sacrifice, they
sacrifice to demons and not to

102
00:06:03,480 –> 00:06:05,560
God.
And I don’t desire that you

103
00:06:05,560 –> 00:06:07,320
would have fellowship with
demons.

104
00:06:08,360 –> 00:06:11,400
You can’t both drink the cup of
the Lord and the cup of demons.

105
00:06:11,840 –> 00:06:14,720
You can’t both partake of the
table of the Lord and of the

106
00:06:14,720 –> 00:06:17,600
table of demons.
Or do we provoke the Lord to

107
00:06:17,600 –> 00:06:20,640
jealousy?
Are we stronger than He?

108
00:06:20,800 –> 00:06:23,520
All things are lawful for me,
but not all things are

109
00:06:23,520 –> 00:06:26,080
profitable.
All things are lawful for me,

110
00:06:26,280 –> 00:06:30,480
but not all things build up.
Let no one seek his own, but

111
00:06:30,480 –> 00:06:34,320
each one his neighbor’s good.
Whatever is sold in the butcher

112
00:06:34,320 –> 00:06:37,680
shop, eat, asking no question
for the sake of conscience.

113
00:06:38,000 –> 00:06:40,760
For the earth is the Lord S and
its fullness.

114
00:06:41,320 –> 00:06:44,240
But if one of those who don’t
believe invites you to a meal

115
00:06:45,240 –> 00:06:48,440
and you are inclined to go, eat
whatever is set before you,

116
00:06:48,880 –> 00:06:51,280
asking no questions for the sake
of conscience.

117
00:06:52,280 –> 00:06:56,320
But if anyone says to you, This
was offered to idols, don’t eat

118
00:06:56,320 –> 00:06:59,040
it for the sake of the one who
told you, and for the sake of

119
00:06:59,040 –> 00:07:02,520
conscience.
For the earth is the Lord S with

120
00:07:02,520 –> 00:07:05,920
all its fullness.
Conscience, I say, not your own,

121
00:07:06,040 –> 00:07:09,320
but the others conscience.
For why is my liberty judged by

122
00:07:09,320 –> 00:07:13,040
another conscience?
If I partake with thankfulness,

123
00:07:13,320 –> 00:07:15,760
why am I denounced for something
I give thanks for?

124
00:07:16,200 –> 00:07:19,680
Whether therefore, you eat or
drink, or whatever you do, do

125
00:07:19,680 –> 00:07:23,880
all to the glory of God.
Give no occasion for stumbling,

126
00:07:24,040 –> 00:07:28,640
whether to Jews or to Greeks, or
to the Assembly of God, even as

127
00:07:28,640 –> 00:07:32,160
I also please all men in all
things, not seeking my own

128
00:07:32,160 –> 00:07:36,200
prophet, but the prophet of the
many, that they may be saved.

129
00:07:38,200 –> 00:07:41,440
Thanks for joining us on Bible
Chat, where Scripture meets

130
00:07:41,440 –> 00:07:44,680
everyday life.

00:07:48,280 –> 00:07:50,080

133

walking daily with.
Jesus.
