“The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge. The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.” — Proverbs 14:18–19 (ESV)

“And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.” — Mark 16:5–8 (ESV)

Life is full of choices that shape who we become. Sometimes it’s easy to follow the crowd or do what seems fun at the moment, but Proverbs 14:18–19 reminds us that simple or thoughtless choices often lead to trouble, while wise, thoughtful decisions lead to growth and honor. The women at Jesus’ tomb in Mark 16 experienced something incredible, but fear kept them silent at first. Their response reminds us that even in moments of confusion or fear, choosing faith over fear can lead to life-changing experiences.

As a teen, it can feel like everyone is watching your moves, judging your choices, or pressuring you to fit in. But God calls you to walk wisely, make decisions that honor Him, and trust Him even when you’re unsure. Sometimes the right choice doesn’t feel popular or easy—it might even feel scary—but God’s guidance always leads to blessing and peace.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Simple vs. Wise Choices: Look at your daily decisions. Are there areas where you’ve been “simple” instead of “prudent”? How can choosing wisdom change your life?

2. Facing Fear with Faith: The women at the tomb were afraid, yet they witnessed God’s power. How can you choose faith over fear in situations that seem overwhelming?

3. Influence Matters: Proverbs says the wicked bow before the good. Who are the positive influences in your life, and how can you learn from them to make better choices?

________________________________________

BOTTOM LINE

Your choices matter—choose wisdom, trust God, and let faith guide you even when fear wants to take over.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me the difference between simple choices and wise ones. Help me to walk in Your wisdom, trust You when I’m afraid, and make decisions that honor You. Strengthen my faith so that fear does not hold me back from experiencing Your power and blessings. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible chat, where we
have devotional conversations

2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:11,160
rooted in scripture and relevant
for today, April 16th.

3
00:00:12,280 –> 00:00:15,920
Choosing the right path Every
day is filled with choices, and

4
00:00:15,920 –> 00:00:18,800
some of them feel small enough
to ignore but little.

5
00:00:18,800 –> 00:00:21,960
Choices shape direction, and
direction shapes who you become.

6
00:00:23,080 –> 00:00:27,720
Proverbs chapter 14, verses 18
to 19 says the simple inherit

7
00:00:27,720 –> 00:00:31,240
folly, but the prudent are
crowned with knowledge That

8
00:00:31,240 –> 00:00:33,600
reminds us that wisdom is not
automatic.

9
00:00:34,720 –> 00:00:37,600
It comes through paying
attention, learning from God,

10
00:00:37,840 –> 00:00:39,600
and letting truth guide your
steps.

11
00:00:40,160 –> 00:00:43,880
Mark chapter 16, verses 5 to 8
tells us about the women at the

12
00:00:43,880 –> 00:00:47,200
empty tomb.
They had come expecting death

13
00:00:47,200 –> 00:00:50,640
and grief, but instead they were
met with the shocking news that

14
00:00:50,720 –> 00:00:53,480
Jesus had risen.
The passage says they were

15
00:00:53,480 –> 00:00:56,080
trembling and astonished and
they were afraid.

16
00:00:57,200 –> 00:01:01,480
That reaction feels so human.
Sometimes God is at work in ways

17
00:01:01,480 –> 00:01:05,120
we do not understand, and fear
rushes in before faith has time

18
00:01:05,120 –> 00:01:07,240
to catch up.
Maybe that is where you are

19
00:01:07,240 –> 00:01:10,080
right now.
You want to choose the right

20
00:01:10,080 –> 00:01:13,520
path, but you feel unsure,
nervous, or overwhelmed.

21
00:01:14,080 –> 00:01:17,280
You know God is calling you to
trust him, but fear keeps making

22
00:01:17,280 –> 00:01:19,040
everything feel harder than it
should.

23
00:01:20,160 –> 00:01:23,560
That is why prudence matters.
Wisdom does not mean having

24
00:01:23,560 –> 00:01:26,440
every answer.
It means choosing to follow God

25
00:01:26,440 –> 00:01:30,600
even when you are trembling.
The simple path often says just

26
00:01:30,600 –> 00:01:33,520
go with what is easiest, what
feels natural, what everyone

27
00:01:33,520 –> 00:01:36,560
else is doing.
But the prudent path says stop

28
00:01:36,560 –> 00:01:39,960
and ask what is true.
Stop and ask what honors God.

29
00:01:41,000 –> 00:01:43,400
Stop and ask which direction
leads to life.

30
00:01:43,760 –> 00:01:45,680
You do not have to let fear
decide for you.

31
00:01:46,200 –> 00:01:48,640
Fear is loud, but it is not
always wise.

32
00:01:49,800 –> 00:01:52,760
God’s presence may not remove
every uncertain feeling

33
00:01:52,760 –> 00:01:55,640
immediately, but it does give
you a faithful guide.

34
00:01:56,120 –> 00:01:58,160
He knows how to lead you when
you feel shaky.

35
00:01:59,200 –> 00:02:01,280
He knows how to steady your
heart while you walk.

36
00:02:01,640 –> 00:02:04,200
So choose the path that keeps
you close to Jesus.

37
00:02:04,640 –> 00:02:07,000
Choose what builds faith, not
just comfort.

38
00:02:08,120 –> 00:02:11,280
Choose what reflects obedience,
even if it costs you something.

39
00:02:11,720 –> 00:02:14,760
The right path may not always
feel easy, but it will always be

40
00:02:14,760 –> 00:02:16,480
worth it.
Let’s pray.

41
00:02:17,640 –> 00:02:20,480
Heavenly Father, thank you for
caring about the direction of my

42
00:02:20,480 –> 00:02:22,760
life.
Help me choose wisdom over

43
00:02:22,760 –> 00:02:24,680
carelessness and faith over
fear.

44
00:02:25,720 –> 00:02:28,960
When I feel uncertain, guide me
with Your truth and steady my

45
00:02:28,960 –> 00:02:32,120
heart with Your presence.
Teach me to trust You one step

46
00:02:32,120 –> 00:02:35,160
at a time and to walk the path
that brings honor to You and

47
00:02:35,160 –> 00:02:39,080
life to my soul in Jesus name,
Amen.

48
00:02:43,560 –> 00:02:46,280
What if you could rise up and
declare with full spiritual

49
00:02:46,280 –> 00:02:48,920
authority, I shall not die but
live?

Proverbs chapter 14 verses 18 to
19 World English Bible The

70
00:03:52,600 –> 00:03:55,360
simple inherit folly, but the
prudent are crowned with

71
00:03:55,360 –> 00:03:59,400
knowledge, the evil bow down
before the good and the wicked

at the gates of the righteous.
Mark Chapter 16 World English

73
00:04:03,560 –> 00:04:08,040
Bible When the Sabbath was
passed, Mary Magdalene and Mary

74
00:04:08,040 –> 00:04:11,720
the mother of James and Salome
bought spices that they might

75
00:04:11,720 –> 00:04:15,440
come and anoint him.
Very early on the first day of

76
00:04:15,440 –> 00:04:19,720
the week they came to the tomb.
When the sun had risen, they

77
00:04:19,720 –> 00:04:22,640
were saying among themselves,
Who will roll away the stone

78
00:04:22,640 –> 00:04:25,360
from the door of the tomb for
us, for it was very big.

79
00:04:25,760 –> 00:04:28,360
Looking up they saw that the
stone was rolled back.

80
00:04:29,480 –> 00:04:32,400
Entering into the tomb, they saw
a young man sitting on the right

81
00:04:32,400 –> 00:04:35,280
side dressed in a white robe,
and they were amazed.

82
00:04:35,760 –> 00:04:39,720
He said to them, Don’t be
amazed, you seek Jesus the

83
00:04:39,720 –> 00:04:41,400
Nazarene, who has been
crucified.

84
00:04:41,840 –> 00:04:44,800
He has risen, He is not here.
See the place where they laid

85
00:04:44,800 –> 00:04:48,840
him, but go tell His disciples
and Peter, He goes before you

86
00:04:48,840 –> 00:04:52,040
into Galilee.
There you will see Him, as He

87
00:04:52,040 –> 00:04:54,720
said to you.
They went out and fled from the

88
00:04:54,720 –> 00:04:57,560
tomb, for trembling and
astonishment had come on them.

89
00:04:58,040 –> 00:05:01,920
They said nothing to anyone, for
they were afraid now.

90
00:05:01,920 –> 00:05:04,840
When he had risen early on the
first day of the week, he

91
00:05:04,840 –> 00:05:08,000
appeared first to Mary
Magdalene, from whom he had cast

92
00:05:08,000 –> 00:05:11,680
out seven demons.
She went and told those who had

93
00:05:11,680 –> 00:05:13,920
been with him as they mourned
and wept.

94
00:05:14,400 –> 00:05:17,040
When they heard that he was
alive and had been seen by her,

95
00:05:17,120 –> 00:05:20,400
they disbelieved.
After these things he was

96
00:05:20,400 –> 00:05:23,680
revealed in another form to two
of them as they walked on their

97
00:05:23,680 –> 00:05:26,600
way into the country.
They went away and told it to

98
00:05:26,600 –> 00:05:29,120
the rest.
They didn’t believe them either.

99
00:05:30,200 –> 00:05:33,840
Afterward, he was revealed to
the 11 themselves as they sat at

100
00:05:33,840 –> 00:05:37,320
the table, and he rebuked them
for their unbelief and hardness

101
00:05:37,320 –> 00:05:41,240
of heart because they didn’t
believe those who had seen him.

102
00:05:41,400 –> 00:05:45,960
After he had risen, he said to
them, Go into all the world and

103
00:05:45,960 –> 00:05:47,960
preach the good news to the
whole creation.

104
00:05:48,440 –> 00:05:51,840
He who believes and is baptized
will be saved, but he who

105
00:05:51,840 –> 00:05:56,000
disbelieves will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those

106
00:05:56,000 –> 00:05:59,720
who believe in my name.
They will cast out demons, they

107
00:05:59,720 –> 00:06:03,200
will speak with new languages,
they will take up serpents, and

108
00:06:03,200 –> 00:06:07,040
if they drink any deadly thing
it will in no way hurt them.

109
00:06:07,360 –> 00:06:09,920
They will lay hands on the sick,
and they will recover.

110
00:06:10,640 –> 00:06:13,920
So then the Lord, after he had
spoken to them, was received up

111
00:06:13,920 –> 00:06:16,760
into heaven, and sat down at the
right hand of God.

112
00:06:17,880 –> 00:06:20,440
They went out and preached
everywhere, the Lord working

113
00:06:20,440 –> 00:06:23,200
with them and confirming the
word by the signs that followed.

114
00:06:23,800 –> 00:06:27,920
Amen.
