“Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.” — Proverbs 14:21 (ESV)

“Yet for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Rouse Yourself! Do not reject us forever.” — Psalm 44:22–23 (ESV)

“For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.” — Romans 2:12 (ESV)

It’s easy to scroll past someone in need or dismiss a classmate who seems “different” or “less popular.” But Proverbs 14:21 reminds us that the way we treat others reflects our heart before God. Our actions—whether kind or cruel—have consequences not just for those around us, but for ourselves too. In Psalm 44, we see that even God’s people face hardships, sometimes feeling abandoned or overwhelmed. Yet, this psalm also teaches that in honesty and persistence, we can cry out to God and trust Him. Romans 2 adds a perspective that God’s judgment is fair; He sees our motives, not just our actions, and calls us to live with integrity.

Teen life is full of pressures—fitting in, grades, social media, and friendships. It’s tempting to take shortcuts or act in ways that hurt others just to get ahead. But God wants us to walk differently: to live with kindness, to respond to hardship with faith, and to remember that He sees and knows all. Small choices—standing up for someone, speaking a kind word, helping without being asked—can shape your character and honor God in ways you might never see right away.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Reflect Your Heart: How do your daily choices show kindness or cruelty to those around you (Proverbs 14:21)?

2. Trust in Hard Times: When life feels unfair or difficult like in Psalm 44, how can you respond in faith rather than frustration?

3. Live With Integrity: Knowing that God sees your heart (Romans 2:12), how can you make decisions that honor Him even when no one is watching?

________________________________________

BOTTOM LINE

Your character is shaped by how you treat others, respond to hardship, and live with integrity before God.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that You see my heart and my actions. Help me to show kindness to others, trust You in difficult times, and live with integrity even when it’s hard. Teach me to honor You in every choice and let my life reflect Your love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we
have devotional conversations

2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:10,960
rooted in Scripture and relevant
for today, April 18th.

3
00:00:11,240 –> 00:00:13,120
Walking in kindness and
integrity.

4
00:00:13,560 –> 00:00:15,840
Sometimes kindness looks small
in the moment.

5
00:00:17,000 –> 00:00:20,160
A word of respect, A quiet act
of generosity.

6
00:00:20,440 –> 00:00:23,000
Choosing not to mock someone who
is already hurting.

7
00:00:23,440 –> 00:00:26,480
Refusing to overlook the person
everyone else ignores.

8
00:00:27,600 –> 00:00:30,200
But in God’s eyes, those moments
are never small.

9
00:00:31,360 –> 00:00:35,320
Proverbs chapter 14, verse 21
says whoever despises his

10
00:00:35,320 –> 00:00:38,360
neighbor is a Sinner, but
blessed is he who is generous to

11
00:00:38,360 –> 00:00:41,400
the poor.
That verse reaches beyond money.

12
00:00:41,720 –> 00:00:45,480
It speaks to posture.
How do you see people with

13
00:00:45,480 –> 00:00:48,560
contempt, indifference,
superiority, or compassion?

14
00:00:49,040 –> 00:00:52,840
Psalm 44 shows the honesty of
God’s people in hard times.

15
00:00:54,000 –> 00:00:57,280
They cry out with confusion and
pain, asking where God is in

16
00:00:57,280 –> 00:01:00,000
their suffering.
That reminds us that faith does

17
00:01:00,000 –> 00:01:03,760
not always feel polished.
Sometimes it is raw and real.

18
00:01:04,840 –> 00:01:08,280
Then Romans chapter 2 reminds us
that God judges rightly.

19
00:01:08,680 –> 00:01:11,480
He sees not only what we do, but
the heart behind it.

20
00:01:11,880 –> 00:01:15,440
He sees what no one else sees.
That means integrity matters

21
00:01:15,440 –> 00:01:18,320
deeply.
Who you are when no one is

22
00:01:18,320 –> 00:01:21,200
watching matters.
How you treat people who cannot

23
00:01:21,200 –> 00:01:23,920
help you matters.
Whether you choose kindness when

24
00:01:23,920 –> 00:01:28,240
it is inconvenient matters.
God is shaping your character in

25
00:01:28,240 –> 00:01:31,920
those hidden places.
It is easy to be swept up in

26
00:01:31,920 –> 00:01:34,440
pressure, competition, and self
focus.

27
00:01:35,280 –> 00:01:38,320
Life can make you feel like you
need to protect your image, push

28
00:01:38,320 –> 00:01:40,600
ahead, and worry mostly about
yourself.

29
00:01:41,160 –> 00:01:43,120
But Jesus calls you to another
way.

30
00:01:43,520 –> 00:01:46,680
He calls you to live with mercy,
honesty, and steady faith.

31
00:01:47,800 –> 00:01:50,160
To be kind in a harsh world is
not weakness.

32
00:01:50,520 –> 00:01:52,960
It is evidence of a heart being
formed by God.

33
00:01:53,320 –> 00:01:55,680
So today, pay attention to the
little moments.

34
00:01:56,080 –> 00:02:00,120
The overlooked person, the
chance to help, the choice to

35
00:02:00,120 –> 00:02:04,000
speak gently instead of sharply,
the decision to remain honest

36
00:02:04,000 –> 00:02:06,000
even when you could easily cut
corners.

37
00:02:06,480 –> 00:02:08,639
Those small acts are building
something in you.

38
00:02:09,800 –> 00:02:11,600
They are shaping a life of
integrity.

39
00:02:12,080 –> 00:02:15,040
Let your faith show up, not only
in worship, but in the way you

40
00:02:15,040 –> 00:02:17,000
treat people.
Let’s pray.

41
00:02:17,320 –> 00:02:20,480
Heavenly Father, thank you for
caring about both my actions and

42
00:02:20,480 –> 00:02:23,720
my heart.
Help me walk in kindness toward

43
00:02:23,720 –> 00:02:27,000
others, especially when it is
easy to be selfish or

44
00:02:27,000 –> 00:02:29,760
indifferent.
Teach me to live with integrity

45
00:02:29,760 –> 00:02:34,080
in public and in private when
life feels hard or unfair.

46
00:02:34,160 –> 00:02:36,800
Help me stay faithful and trust
that you see every hidden

47
00:02:36,800 –> 00:02:38,920
choice.
Make my life reflect Your

48
00:02:38,920 –> 00:02:42,640
compassion, truth and love in
Jesus name, Amen.

49
00:02:47,120 –> 00:02:49,880

declare with full spiritual

00:02:49,880 –> 00:02:54,200

despises his neighbor sins, but

Psalm Chapter 44 World English
Bible for the Chief Musician by

72
00:04:05,600 –> 00:04:08,840
the Sons of Korah.
A contemplative Psalm we have

73
00:04:08,840 –> 00:04:11,600
heard with our ears.
God, our fathers have told us

74
00:04:11,600 –> 00:04:15,800
what work you did in their days.
In the days of old You drove out

75
00:04:15,800 –> 00:04:18,040
the nations with your hand, but
you planted them.

76
00:04:18,560 –> 00:04:21,120
You afflicted the peoples, but
you spread them abroad.

77
00:04:22,200 –> 00:04:25,000
For they didn’t get the land in
possession by their own sword.

78
00:04:25,280 –> 00:04:29,040
Neither did their own arms save
them but your right hand, your

79
00:04:29,040 –> 00:04:31,960
arm, and the light of your face,
because you were favorable to

80
00:04:31,960 –> 00:04:34,600
them.
God, you are my king.

81
00:04:35,040 –> 00:04:38,080
Command victories for Jacob.
Through you we will push down

82
00:04:38,080 –> 00:04:40,760
our adversaries.
Through your name we will tread

83
00:04:40,760 –> 00:04:42,520
down those who rise up against
us.

84
00:04:43,600 –> 00:04:47,040
For I will not trust in my bow,
neither will my sword save me.

85
00:04:47,440 –> 00:04:50,200
But you have saved us from our
adversaries and have shamed

86
00:04:50,200 –> 00:04:53,160
those who hate us.
In God, we have made our boast

87
00:04:53,160 –> 00:04:56,280
all day long.
We will give thanks to your name

88
00:04:56,280 –> 00:04:57,840
forever.
Selah.

89
00:04:58,160 –> 00:05:00,840
But now you rejected us and
brought us to dishonor.

90
00:05:00,840 –> 00:05:02,320
And don’t go out with our
armies.

91
00:05:02,760 –> 00:05:04,840
You make us turn back from the
adversary.

92
00:05:05,920 –> 00:05:08,240
Those who hate us take plunder
for themselves.

93
00:05:08,680 –> 00:05:11,480
You have made us like sheep for
food, and have scattered us

94
00:05:11,480 –> 00:05:14,600
among the nations.
You sell your people for

95
00:05:14,600 –> 00:05:17,040
nothing, and have gained nothing
from their sail.

96
00:05:17,560 –> 00:05:20,560
You make us a reproach to our
neighbors, a scoffing and a

97
00:05:20,560 –> 00:05:22,440
derision to those who are around
us.

98
00:05:23,560 –> 00:05:27,120
You make us a byword among the
nations, a shaking of the head

99
00:05:27,120 –> 00:05:30,720
among the peoples.
All day long my dishonor is

100
00:05:30,720 –> 00:05:34,800
before me, and shame covers my
face at the taunt of one who

101
00:05:34,800 –> 00:05:38,360
reproaches and verbally abuses
because of the enemy and the

102
00:05:38,360 –> 00:05:41,720
Avenger.
All this has come on us, yet we

103
00:05:41,720 –> 00:05:44,280
haven’t forgotten you.
We haven’t been false to your

104
00:05:44,280 –> 00:05:47,440
covenant.
Our heart has not turned back,

105
00:05:47,640 –> 00:05:50,480
neither have our steps strayed
from your path, though you have

106
00:05:50,480 –> 00:05:53,160
crushed us in the haunt of
jackals and covered us with the

107
00:05:53,160 –> 00:05:56,440
shadow of death.
If we have forgotten the name of

108
00:05:56,440 –> 00:06:00,040
our God or spread out our hands
to a strange God, won’t God

109
00:06:00,040 –> 00:06:03,200
search this out, for he knows
the secrets of the heart.

110
00:06:04,280 –> 00:06:06,520
Yes, for your sake, we are
killed all day long.

111
00:06:06,800 –> 00:06:08,680
We are regarded as sheep for the
slaughter.

112
00:06:08,880 –> 00:06:10,440
Wake up.
Why do you sleep?

113
00:06:10,440 –> 00:06:12,880
Lord, arise, Don’t reject us
forever.

114
00:06:13,960 –> 00:06:16,480
Why do you hide your face and
forget our affliction and our

115
00:06:16,480 –> 00:06:18,960
oppression?
For our soul is bowed down to

116
00:06:18,960 –> 00:06:21,280
the dust, Our body clings to the
earth.

117
00:06:21,560 –> 00:06:25,880
Rise up to help us, redeem us
for your loving kindness sake.

118
00:06:26,320 –> 00:06:30,240
Romans Chapter 2 World English
Bible Therefore you are without

119
00:06:30,240 –> 00:06:32,280
excuse.
Oh man, whoever you are who

120
00:06:32,280 –> 00:06:36,200
judge, for in that which you
judge another, you condemn

121
00:06:36,200 –> 00:06:38,600
yourself.
For you who judge practice the

122
00:06:38,600 –> 00:06:40,800
same things.
We know that the judgement of

123
00:06:40,800 –> 00:06:43,720
God is according to truth
against those who practice such

124
00:06:43,720 –> 00:06:46,960
things.
Do you think this Oh man who

125
00:06:46,960 –> 00:06:50,600
judges those who practice such
things and do the same, that you

126
00:06:50,600 –> 00:06:52,160
will escape the judgement of
God?

127
00:06:53,320 –> 00:06:56,560
Or do you despise the riches of
His goodness, forbearance and

128
00:06:56,560 –> 00:06:59,800
patience, not knowing that the
goodness of God leads you to

129
00:06:59,800 –> 00:07:03,720
repentance, But according to
your hardness and unrepentant

130
00:07:03,720 –> 00:07:06,440
heart, you are treasuring up for
yourself wrath in the day of

131
00:07:06,440 –> 00:07:11,640
wrath revelation, and of the
righteous judgment of God, who

132
00:07:11,640 –> 00:07:14,040
will pay back to everyone
according to their works.

133
00:07:14,560 –> 00:07:17,680
To those who by perseverance in
well doing, seek for glory,

134
00:07:17,760 –> 00:07:20,560
honor and incorruptibility,
eternal life.

135
00:07:21,760 –> 00:07:24,040
But to those who are self
seeking and don’t obey the

136
00:07:24,040 –> 00:07:28,280
truth, but obey unrighteousness,
will be wrath, indignation,

137
00:07:28,320 –> 00:07:32,040
oppression and anguish on every
soul of man who does evil to the

138
00:07:32,040 –> 00:07:38,160
Jew 1st and also to the Greek.
But glory, honor and peace go to

139
00:07:38,160 –> 00:07:41,680
every man who does good to the
Jew 1st and also to the Greek.

140
00:07:42,160 –> 00:07:44,200
For there is no partiality with
God.

141
00:07:45,320 –> 00:07:48,560
For as many as have sinned
without the law will also perish

142
00:07:48,560 –> 00:07:51,320
without the law.
As many as have sinned under the

143
00:07:51,320 –> 00:07:55,120
law will be judged by the law.
For it isn’t the hearers of the

144
00:07:55,120 –> 00:07:58,400
law who are righteous before
God, but the doers of the law

145
00:07:58,400 –> 00:08:01,480
will be justified.
For when Gentiles who don’t have

146
00:08:01,480 –> 00:08:05,640
the law do by nature the things
of the law, these, not having

147
00:08:05,640 –> 00:08:08,600
the law, are a law to
themselves, in that they show

148
00:08:08,600 –> 00:08:11,600
the work of the Law written in
their hearts, their conscience

149
00:08:11,600 –> 00:08:15,240
testifying with them, and their
thoughts among themselves,

150
00:08:15,240 –> 00:08:19,360
accusing or else excusing them.
In the day when God will judge

151
00:08:19,360 –> 00:08:23,320
the secrets of men according to
my good news by Jesus Christ.

152
00:08:24,440 –> 00:08:27,840
Indeed, you bear the name of a
Jew, rest on the law, glory in

153
00:08:27,840 –> 00:08:31,320
God, know His will, and approve
the things that are excellent.

154
00:08:31,360 –> 00:08:35,159
Being instructed out of the law,
and are confident that you

155
00:08:35,159 –> 00:08:38,200
yourself are a guide of the
blind, a light to those who are

156
00:08:38,200 –> 00:08:41,880
in darkness, a corrector of the
foolish, a teacher of babies,

157
00:08:43,000 –> 00:08:45,600
having in the law the form of
knowledge and of the truth.

158
00:08:46,760 –> 00:08:49,320
You therefore who teach another,
don’t you teach yourself?

159
00:08:49,800 –> 00:08:52,320
You who preach that a man
shouldn’t steal, do you steal?

160
00:08:52,720 –> 00:08:55,360
You who say a man shouldn’t
commit adultery, do you commit

161
00:08:55,360 –> 00:08:58,840
adultery?
You who abort idols, do you rob

162
00:08:58,840 –> 00:09:01,320
temples?
You who glory in the law, do you

163
00:09:01,320 –> 00:09:03,240
dishonor God by disobeying the
Law?

164
00:09:04,400 –> 00:09:07,080
For the name of God is
blasphemed among the Gentiles

165
00:09:07,080 –> 00:09:11,320
because of you, just as it is
written For circumcision.

166
00:09:11,320 –> 00:09:15,040
Indeed, profits if you are a
doer of the law, but if you are

167
00:09:15,040 –> 00:09:18,040
a transgressor of the law, your
circumcision has become

168
00:09:18,040 –> 00:09:21,920
uncircumcision.
If therefore, the uncircumcised

169
00:09:21,920 –> 00:09:25,440
keep the ordinances of the law,
won’t his uncircumcision be

170
00:09:25,440 –> 00:09:29,360
accounted as circumcision?
Won’t those who are physically

171
00:09:29,360 –> 00:09:33,240
uncircumcised but fulfill the
law judge you who with the

172
00:09:33,240 –> 00:09:35,840
letter and circumcision are a
transgressor of the law?

173
00:09:37,000 –> 00:09:40,400
For he is not a Jew who is 1
outwardly, Neither is that

174
00:09:40,400 –> 00:09:42,480
circumcision which is outward in
the flesh.

175
00:09:43,040 –> 00:09:45,040
But he is a Jew who is 1
inwardly.

176
00:09:45,400 –> 00:09:49,640
And circumcision is that of the
heart in the Spirit, not in the

177
00:09:49,640 –> 00:09:52,480
letter, whose praise is not from
men, but from God.
