“The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools. In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but trouble befalls the income of the wicked.” — Proverbs 15:5–6 (ESV)

“Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me, those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?” — Psalm 49:5–6 (ESV)

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 14:17 (ESV)

What really matters in life? We chase grades, sports wins, likes on social media, or maybe even money from a part-time job. But Psalm 49 reminds us that wealth and popularity don’t last forever—they can’t save us or give us true peace. Proverbs 15 shows that wisdom and righteousness are real treasures because they shape our character and lead to a life God can bless. And Romans 14 points us toward the things that really count in God’s kingdom: righteousness, peace, and joy that come from His Spirit.

Life gets noisy with all the things screaming for your attention, but God calls you to focus on what lasts. Instead of building your life on stuff that fades, He wants you to build on faith, wisdom, and the kind of character that brings Him glory.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. True Treasure: Where are you tempted to put your worth—in stuff, achievements, or what others think? How can you start valuing righteousness, peace, and joy more?

2. Fear-Free Living: Psalm 49 says we don’t have to fear when trouble comes. How does trusting in God’s wisdom instead of wealth or success bring real security?

3. Kingdom Priorities: If God’s kingdom is about righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17), what’s one way you can reflect those qualities this week at school or with friends?

________________________________________

BOTTOM LINE

Lasting peace and joy come from living with God’s wisdom, not chasing temporary treasures.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that real treasure is found in You, not in stuff that doesn’t last. Help me to value righteousness, peace, and joy over wealth or popularity. Teach me to live with wisdom so my life brings You glory and points others to Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we
have devotional conversations

2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:11,120
rooted in Scripture and relevant
for today, April 29th.

3
00:00:11,480 –> 00:00:14,560
Wisdom that lasts.
A lot of things look valuable

4
00:00:14,560 –> 00:00:16,400
until you realize they cannot
last.

5
00:00:17,480 –> 00:00:20,080
Money can be lost.
Popularity can shift.

6
00:00:20,160 –> 00:00:22,880
Achievements can fade.
Approval can disappear

7
00:00:22,880 –> 00:00:27,480
overnight.
Psalm 49, verses 5 to 6 asks why

8
00:00:27,480 –> 00:00:29,960
we should fear in times of
trouble when others trust in

9
00:00:29,960 –> 00:00:33,680
wealth and boast in riches.
It reminds us that wealth cannot

10
00:00:33,680 –> 00:00:36,080
save the soul.
It was never meant to.

11
00:00:37,240 –> 00:00:41,160
Proverbs chapter 15, verses 5 to
6, points us toward a better

12
00:00:41,160 –> 00:00:43,880
treasure.
It says that wise lips spread

13
00:00:43,880 –> 00:00:46,880
knowledge and that in the House
of the righteous there is much

14
00:00:46,880 –> 00:00:49,680
treasure.
That treasure is not only

15
00:00:49,680 –> 00:00:53,880
material, it is the richness of
a life shaped by God, wisdom,

16
00:00:53,880 –> 00:00:56,440
peace, integrity, love, and
faithfulness.

17
00:00:57,560 –> 00:01:01,800
Romans chapter 14 verse 17 says
the Kingdom of God is not a

18
00:01:01,800 –> 00:01:04,720
matter of eating and drinking,
but of righteousness and peace

19
00:01:04,720 –> 00:01:09,080
and joy in the Holy Spirit.
That is what lasts, Not image,

20
00:01:09,240 –> 00:01:13,120
not status, not the temporary
things we use to measure

21
00:01:13,120 –> 00:01:16,360
ourselves against others.
God’s Kingdom is marked by

22
00:01:16,360 –> 00:01:20,560
righteousness, peace and joy.
So ask yourself today, what am I

23
00:01:20,560 –> 00:01:24,200
building my life around?
What do I think I need in order

24
00:01:24,200 –> 00:01:26,480
to be OK?
If your worth is tied to

25
00:01:26,480 –> 00:01:29,600
success, attention, or
possessions, your heart will

26
00:01:29,600 –> 00:01:33,360
always feel unstable.
But if your life is rooted in

27
00:01:33,360 –> 00:01:36,360
Christ, you can experience a
treasure that circumstances

28
00:01:36,360 –> 00:01:39,280
cannot steal.
Wisdom that lasts teaches us to

29
00:01:39,280 –> 00:01:44,520
value what heaven values.
Speak truth, seek peace, walk in

30
00:01:44,520 –> 00:01:46,800
righteousness.
Let joy come from the Holy

31
00:01:46,800 –> 00:01:48,800
Spirit, not from temporary
applause.

32
00:01:49,080 –> 00:01:51,080
The world offers treasures that
fade.

33
00:01:51,400 –> 00:01:53,680
God forms treasure within you
that lasts.

34
00:01:53,920 –> 00:01:57,240
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, thank you for

35
00:01:57,240 –> 00:02:00,880
showing me what truly matters.
Help me stop chasing temporary

36
00:02:00,880 –> 00:02:03,120
things as if they can satisfy my
soul.

37
00:02:03,640 –> 00:02:06,880
Teach me to value righteousness,
peace and joy in the Holy

38
00:02:06,880 –> 00:02:09,800
Spirit.
Fill my life with wisdom that

39
00:02:09,800 –> 00:02:11,960
lasts and let my heart find its
treasure in you.

40
00:02:12,520 –> 00:02:17,160
In Jesus name, Amen.
What if you could rise up and

41
00:02:17,160 –> 00:02:21,040
declare with full spiritual
authority, I shall not die but

with God in today’s three-year

60
00:03:19,840 –> 00:03:24,120
Proverbs chapter 15 verses 5 to
6 World English Bible.

61
00:03:24,600 –> 00:03:27,800
A fool despises his Father’s
correction, but he who heeds

62
00:03:27,800 –> 00:03:31,640
reproof shows prudence.
In the House of the righteous is

63
00:03:31,640 –> 00:03:34,360
much treasure, but the income of
the wicked brings trouble.

64
00:03:34,960 –> 00:03:39,520
Psalm Chapter 49 World English
Bible for the chief musician.

65
00:03:40,000 –> 00:03:44,240
A Psalm by the sons of Korra.
Hear this all you peoples,

66
00:03:44,640 –> 00:03:47,920
listen, all you inhabitants of
the world, both low and high,

67
00:03:47,920 –> 00:03:51,000
rich and poor, together.
My mouth will speak words of

68
00:03:51,000 –> 00:03:53,600
wisdom, My heart will utter
understanding.

69
00:03:54,720 –> 00:03:56,480
I will incline my ear to a
proverb.

70
00:03:56,840 –> 00:03:58,440
I will solve my Riddle on the
harp.

71
00:03:58,960 –> 00:04:02,160
Why should I fear in the days of
evil, when iniquity at my heels

72
00:04:02,160 –> 00:04:06,240
surrounds me, Those who trust in
their wealth and boast in the

73
00:04:06,240 –> 00:04:09,960
multitude of their riches, none
of them can by any means redeem

74
00:04:09,960 –> 00:04:13,880
his brother, nor give God a
ransom for him, for the

75
00:04:13,880 –> 00:04:15,760
redemption of their life is
costly.

76
00:04:16,079 –> 00:04:19,240
No payment is ever enough.
That he should live on forever,

77
00:04:19,519 –> 00:04:23,000
that he should not see
corruption, For he sees that

78
00:04:23,000 –> 00:04:26,800
wise men die likewise the fool
and the senseless parish, and

79
00:04:26,800 –> 00:04:30,440
leave their wealth to others.
Their inward thought is that

80
00:04:30,440 –> 00:04:33,040
their houses will endure
forever, and their dwelling

81
00:04:33,040 –> 00:04:36,440
places to all generations.
They name their lands after

82
00:04:36,440 –> 00:04:39,440
themselves.
But man, despite his riches,

83
00:04:39,440 –> 00:04:42,640
doesn’t endure.
He is like the animals that

84
00:04:42,640 –> 00:04:45,120
perish.
This is the destiny of those who

85
00:04:45,120 –> 00:04:47,800
are foolish and of those who
approve their sayings.

86
00:04:48,240 –> 00:04:50,400
Selah.
They are appointed as a flock.

87
00:04:50,400 –> 00:04:53,560
For she, all death shall be
their shepherd.

88
00:04:53,880 –> 00:04:57,080
The upright shall have dominion
over them in the morning their

89
00:04:57,080 –> 00:04:59,960
beauty shall decay in Sheol far
from their mansion.

90
00:05:01,040 –> 00:05:04,080
But God will redeem my soul from
the power of Sheol, for he will

91
00:05:04,080 –> 00:05:05,720
receive me.
Selah.

92
00:05:06,800 –> 00:05:09,800
Don’t be afraid when a man is
made rich, when the glory of his

93
00:05:09,800 –> 00:05:12,640
house is increased.
For when he died he will carry

94
00:05:12,640 –> 00:05:15,440
nothing away.
His glory won’t descend after

95
00:05:15,440 –> 00:05:18,760
him, though while he lived he
blessed his soul.

96
00:05:19,040 –> 00:05:21,240
And men praise you when you do
well for yourself.

97
00:05:21,720 –> 00:05:23,920
He shall go to the generation of
his Father’s.

98
00:05:24,200 –> 00:05:28,120
They shall never see the light.
A man who has riches without

99
00:05:28,120 –> 00:05:30,680
understanding is like the
animals that perish.

100
00:05:31,280 –> 00:05:36,240
Romans Chapter 14 World English
Bible Now accept one who is weak

101
00:05:36,240 –> 00:05:38,840
in faith, but not for disputes
over opinions.

102
00:05:39,920 –> 00:05:43,520
One man has faith to eat all
things, but he who is weak eats

103
00:05:43,520 –> 00:05:46,560
only vegetables.
Don’t let him who eats despise

104
00:05:46,560 –> 00:05:49,800
him who doesn’t eat.
Don’t let him who doesn’t eat

105
00:05:49,800 –> 00:05:52,320
judge him who eats, for God has
accepted him.

106
00:05:52,880 –> 00:05:54,760
Who are you who judge another
servant?

107
00:05:55,040 –> 00:05:57,160
To his own Lord he stands or
falls.

108
00:05:58,240 –> 00:06:01,360
Yes, he will be made to stand,
for God has power to make him

109
00:06:01,360 –> 00:06:04,240
stand.
One man esteems one day as more

110
00:06:04,240 –> 00:06:07,240
important, another esteems every
day alike.

111
00:06:07,600 –> 00:06:10,120
Let each man be fully assured in
his own mind.

112
00:06:11,200 –> 00:06:14,720
He who observes the day observes
it to the Lord, and he who does

113
00:06:14,720 –> 00:06:17,520
not observe the day to the Lord,
he does not observe it.

114
00:06:18,040 –> 00:06:21,160
He who eats, eats to the Lord,
for he gives God thanks.

115
00:06:22,200 –> 00:06:25,120
He who doesn’t eat to the Lord,
he doesn’t eat and gives God

116
00:06:25,120 –> 00:06:27,560
thanks.
For none of us lives to himself,

117
00:06:27,560 –> 00:06:30,640
and none dies to himself.
For if we live, we live to the

118
00:06:30,640 –> 00:06:33,280
Lord, or if we die, we die to
the Lord.

119
00:06:34,360 –> 00:06:36,880
If therefore we live or die, we
are the Lords.

120
00:06:37,320 –> 00:06:40,560
For to this end Christ died,
rose, and lived again, that he

121
00:06:40,560 –> 00:06:42,800
might be Lord of both the dead
and the living.

122
00:06:43,320 –> 00:06:46,400
But you, why do you judge your
brother or you?

123
00:06:46,400 –> 00:06:48,240
Again, why do you despise your
brother?

124
00:06:48,520 –> 00:06:51,200
For we will all stand before the
judgement seat of Christ.

125
00:06:51,560 –> 00:06:54,760
For it is written as I live,
says the Lord to me.

126
00:06:54,760 –> 00:06:59,480
Every knee will bow, every
tongue will confess to God, so

127
00:06:59,480 –> 00:07:02,200
then each one of us will give
account of himself to God.

128
00:07:03,320 –> 00:07:06,680
Therefore let’s not judge one
another anymore, but judge this

129
00:07:06,680 –> 00:07:09,720
rather that no man put a
stumbling block in his brother’s

130
00:07:09,720 –> 00:07:14,640
way or an occasion for falling.
I know and am persuaded in the

131
00:07:14,640 –> 00:07:18,360
Lord Jesus that nothing is
unclean of itself, except that

132
00:07:18,360 –> 00:07:21,960
to him who considers anything to
be unclean, to him it is

133
00:07:21,960 –> 00:07:24,840
unclean.
Yet if because of food your

134
00:07:24,840 –> 00:07:28,520
brother is grieved, you walk no
longer in love, don’t destroy

135
00:07:28,520 –> 00:07:32,320
with your food him for whom
Christ died, then don’t let your

136
00:07:32,320 –> 00:07:35,040
good be slandered.
For God’s Kingdom is not eating

137
00:07:35,040 –> 00:07:38,600
and drinking, but righteousness,
peace, and joy in the Holy

138
00:07:38,600 –> 00:07:41,600
Spirit.
For he who serves Christ in

139
00:07:41,600 –> 00:07:44,640
these things is acceptable to
God and approved by men.

140
00:07:45,200 –> 00:07:48,920
So then let’s follow after
things which make for peace and

141
00:07:48,920 –> 00:07:51,000
things by which we may build one
another up.

142
00:07:52,160 –> 00:07:54,600
Don’t overthrow God’s work for
food’s sake.

143
00:07:55,120 –> 00:07:58,560
All things indeed are clean.
However, it is evil for that man

144
00:07:58,560 –> 00:08:00,480
who creates A stumbling block by
eating.

145
00:08:01,600 –> 00:08:04,920
It is good to not eat meat,
drink wine, nor do anything by

146
00:08:04,920 –> 00:08:07,680
which your brother stumbles, is
offended, or is made weak.

147
00:08:08,240 –> 00:08:11,080
Do you have faith?
Have it to yourself before God.

148
00:08:12,240 –> 00:08:14,720
Happy is he who doesn’t judge
himself in that which he

149
00:08:14,720 –> 00:08:18,480
approves, but he who doubts is
condemned if he eats, because it
