“A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not sin in judgment. The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will. The king’s words are gracious, and he does not sin in his lips.” — Proverbs 16:10–13 (ESV)

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God.” — Galatians 2:20 (ESV)

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10 (ESV)

________________________________________

Life often puts you in situations where your decisions are noticed by others—whether it’s at school, with friends, or online. Proverbs 16 reminds us that even leaders’ words and decisions are guided by God when they honor Him. And in Galatians 1–2, Paul teaches that our lives are no longer just about what people think—we live for God’s approval above all. It can be tempting to follow the crowd or say what’s popular, but God calls us to integrity, to let our words and actions reflect Him, even when no one is watching.

Being a teen means learning how to make choices that line up with God’s will, and that sometimes means standing out rather than fitting in. Your words, decisions, and how you treat others are opportunities to show Christ’s character. When you rely on God, like Paul did, you can speak truth, act with integrity, and live boldly, even in challenging situations.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. God Over Popularity: Are there times you’ve made choices just to fit in? How can focusing on God’s approval change the way you act (Galatians 1:10)?

2. Words Matter: Proverbs 16 shows that wise words honor God. How can you speak in ways that build others up instead of tearing them down?

3. Live Boldly: Paul trusted God’s guidance over human approval. What’s one area of your life where you need courage to act according to God’s will rather than what others expect?

BOTTOM LINE

When you let God guide your heart, words, and actions, your life becomes a reflection of His character, even when no one else notices.

00:00:02,440 –> 00:00:05,800
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we
have devotional conversations

2
00:00:06,120 –> 00:00:07,800
rooted in scripture and relevant
for.

3
00:00:07,800 –> 00:00:13,080
Today, May 22nd, Leading with
integrity.

4
00:00:13,520 –> 00:00:16,280
Think about the last time you
made a choice because of what

5
00:00:16,280 –> 00:00:19,000
other people would think.
Maybe you went along with

6
00:00:19,000 –> 00:00:20,400
something you weren’t
comfortable with.

7
00:00:21,440 –> 00:00:23,880
Maybe you stayed quiet when you
should have spoken up.

8
00:00:24,280 –> 00:00:26,920
Maybe you said something just
because it was the popular

9
00:00:26,920 –> 00:00:29,600
opinion, not because you
actually believed it.

10
00:00:30,080 –> 00:00:33,600
We all do it.
The pull toward fitting in and

11
00:00:33,600 –> 00:00:36,640
earning approval is one of the
most consistent pressures in

12
00:00:36,640 –> 00:00:39,160
life, and it doesn’t go away
with age.

13
00:00:40,200 –> 00:00:44,720
Proverbs chapter 16, verses 10
to 13 paint a picture of a

14
00:00:44,720 –> 00:00:47,960
leader whose words and decisions
are guided by God.

15
00:00:49,080 –> 00:00:51,760
The wise king doesn’t speak
carelessly or pursue what’s

16
00:00:51,760 –> 00:00:53,840
popular.
His mouth reflects something

17
00:00:53,840 –> 00:00:56,000
higher.
His lips are gracious.

18
00:00:56,320 –> 00:01:00,520
His judgement is sound, and the
underlying reason is that his

19
00:01:00,520 –> 00:01:03,800
heart is in God’s hands, turned
wherever God wills.

20
00:01:04,280 –> 00:01:08,720
That’s a remarkable image.
Not a leader driven by ego or

21
00:01:08,720 –> 00:01:12,120
the crowd, but one who is
genuinely responsive to God’s

22
00:01:12,120 –> 00:01:14,640
guidance.
And the principle isn’t just for

23
00:01:14,640 –> 00:01:17,200
kings.
It’s for anyone whose decisions

24
00:01:17,200 –> 00:01:21,080
are noticed by others.
Which, honestly, is all of us.

25
00:01:21,520 –> 00:01:23,960
Galatians.
Chapter one, verse 10 makes the

26
00:01:23,960 –> 00:01:27,200
tension absolutely clear.
For am I now seeking the

27
00:01:27,200 –> 00:01:30,840
approval of man or of God?
Or am I trying to please man?

28
00:01:31,880 –> 00:01:34,960
If I were still trying to please
man, I would not be a servant of

29
00:01:34,960 –> 00:01:37,160
Christ.
Paul doesn’t soften it.

30
00:01:38,120 –> 00:01:41,240
He draws a straight line.
You can chase human approval or

31
00:01:41,240 –> 00:01:44,240
you can serve Christ.
But you cannot fully do both.

32
00:01:45,280 –> 00:01:48,000
Because the moment pleasing
people becomes your primary

33
00:01:48,000 –> 00:01:50,840
goal, it will eventually cost
you your integrity.

34
00:01:51,320 –> 00:01:52,760
You’ll say what you don’t
believe.

35
00:01:53,120 –> 00:01:57,200
You’ll do what you know isn’t
right, and slowly, quietly,

36
00:01:57,360 –> 00:01:59,440
you’ll drift from who God made
you to be.

37
00:01:59,840 –> 00:02:03,760
And then Galatians chapter 2,
verse 20 gives us the foundation

38
00:02:03,760 –> 00:02:07,040
that makes any of this possible.
I have been crucified with

39
00:02:07,040 –> 00:02:10,600
Christ.
It is no longer I who live, but

40
00:02:10,600 –> 00:02:13,840
Christ who lives in me and the
life I now live in the flesh.

41
00:02:13,840 –> 00:02:15,800
I live by faith in the Son of
God.

42
00:02:16,480 –> 00:02:19,480
That verse is one of the most
transformative statements in

43
00:02:19,480 –> 00:02:22,560
Scripture.
It reframes your entire

44
00:02:22,560 –> 00:02:25,000
identity.
You are not just trying harder

45
00:02:25,000 –> 00:02:28,400
to be a better person.
You are living a new life.

46
00:02:28,840 –> 00:02:31,720
One where the old need for
constant approval and self

47
00:02:31,720 –> 00:02:35,480
protection has been put to death
and something new and freer has

48
00:02:35,480 –> 00:02:39,080
taken its place.
When Christ lives in you, you

49
00:02:39,080 –> 00:02:41,600
don’t need the crowds validation
to feel secure.

50
00:02:42,000 –> 00:02:43,840
You don’t need to perform for an
audience.

51
00:02:44,240 –> 00:02:46,680
You can speak truth even when
it’s uncomfortable.

52
00:02:47,680 –> 00:02:50,680
You can make the right call even
when it costs you socially.

53
00:02:51,720 –> 00:02:54,800
Not because you’re fearless or
perfect, but because your

54
00:02:54,800 –> 00:02:57,200
identity isn’t built on what
others think of you.

55
00:02:57,640 –> 00:02:59,720
It’s built on who God says you
are.

56
00:03:00,760 –> 00:03:03,600
This is one of the most
countercultural things about

57
00:03:03,600 –> 00:03:07,160
following Jesus.
In a world that is constantly

58
00:03:07,160 –> 00:03:10,720
telling you to manage your image
and win people over, God is

59
00:03:10,720 –> 00:03:13,800
calling you to something deeper,
to let Him shape your heart,

60
00:03:13,800 –> 00:03:18,400
your words, and your choices
from the inside out, regardless

61
00:03:18,400 –> 00:03:20,120
of who’s watching or what
they’ll think.

62
00:03:21,160 –> 00:03:24,080
That kind of integrity builds
something that popularity never

63
00:03:24,080 –> 00:03:25,920
can.
It builds trust.

64
00:03:26,200 –> 00:03:29,800
It builds character.
It builds a life that actually

65
00:03:29,800 –> 00:03:33,040
means something, not just to
you, but to the people around

66
00:03:33,040 –> 00:03:35,720
you who are watching, even if
they never say so.

67
00:03:36,240 –> 00:03:39,720
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, thank you for

68
00:03:39,720 –> 00:03:42,280
reminding me that I don’t need
to perform for anyone’s

69
00:03:42,280 –> 00:03:44,640
approval.
Help me to seek Your opinion

70
00:03:44,640 –> 00:03:48,400
above all else and to let that
guide my words and my choices.

71
00:03:49,440 –> 00:03:51,760
Where I’ve been chasing the
crowd instead of following you,

72
00:03:52,000 –> 00:03:54,680
bring me back.
I want to live with genuine

73
00:03:54,680 –> 00:03:58,280
integrity, not because people
are watching, but because Christ

74
00:03:58,280 –> 00:04:01,440
lives in me.
Make my life a reflection of

75
00:04:01,440 –> 00:04:04,800
your character in every
conversation, every decision,

76
00:04:04,960 –> 00:04:08,600
every ordinary moment.
In Jesus name, Amen.

77
00:04:09,200 –> 00:04:12,400
What if the battles hitting your
family are not random and your

78
00:04:12,400 –> 00:04:15,400
home can become a place where
darkness loses every right to

00:04:15,400 –> 00:04:18,279
stay?

94
00:05:12,440 –> 00:05:15,400
Now I invite you to spend time
with God in today’s three-year

95
00:05:15,400 –> 00:05:20,600
Bible reading plan.
Proverbs chapter 16, verses 10

96
00:05:20,600 –> 00:05:24,080
to 15.
World English Bible inspired

97
00:05:24,080 –> 00:05:25,840
judgments are on the lips of the
king.

98
00:05:26,160 –> 00:05:30,640
He shall not betray his mouth.
Honest balances and scales are

99
00:05:30,640 –> 00:05:33,000
Yahweh’s.
All the weights in the bag are

100
00:05:33,000 –> 00:05:35,680
His work.
It is an abomination for kings

101
00:05:35,680 –> 00:05:39,040
to do wrong, for the throne is
established by righteousness.

102
00:05:40,120 –> 00:05:42,200
Righteous lips are the delight
of kings.

103
00:05:42,520 –> 00:05:44,440
They value one who speaks the
truth.

104
00:05:44,880 –> 00:05:48,120
The King’s wrath is a messenger
of death, but a wise man will

105
00:05:48,120 –> 00:05:51,320
pacify it in the light of the
King’s face is life.

106
00:05:52,360 –> 00:05:54,680
His favor is like a cloud of the
spring rain.

107
00:05:55,080 –> 00:05:58,600
Galatians chapters one to two
world English Bible.

108
00:05:59,640 –> 00:06:03,200
Paul, an apostle, not from men,
nor through man, but through

109
00:06:03,200 –> 00:06:07,040
Jesus Christ and God the Father
who raised him from the dead,

110
00:06:07,160 –> 00:06:09,760
and all the brothers who are
with me to the assemblies of

111
00:06:09,760 –> 00:06:13,280
Galatia.
Grace to you and peace from God

112
00:06:13,280 –> 00:06:16,800
the Father and our Lord Jesus
Christ, who gave Himself for our

113
00:06:16,800 –> 00:06:20,440
sins, that He might deliver us
out of this present evil age

114
00:06:21,480 –> 00:06:25,040
according to the will of our God
and Father, to whom be the glory

115
00:06:25,040 –> 00:06:27,560
forever and ever.
Amen.

116
00:06:28,600 –> 00:06:31,840
I marvel that you are so quickly
deserting Him who called you in

117
00:06:31,840 –> 00:06:34,360
the grace of Christ to a
different good news.

118
00:06:35,360 –> 00:06:37,240
But there isn’t another good
news.

119
00:06:37,720 –> 00:06:40,600
Only there are some who trouble
you and want to pervert the good

120
00:06:40,600 –> 00:06:44,240
news of Christ.
But even though we or an Angel

121
00:06:44,240 –> 00:06:48,000
from heaven should preach to you
any good news other than that

122
00:06:48,000 –> 00:06:51,960
which we preach to you, let him
be cursed, as we have said

123
00:06:51,960 –> 00:06:54,640
before.
So I now say again, If any man

124
00:06:54,640 –> 00:06:57,640
preaches to you any good news
other than that which you

125
00:06:57,640 –> 00:07:01,360
received, let him be cursed.
For am I now seeking the favor

126
00:07:01,360 –> 00:07:05,680
of men or of God, or am I
striving to please men?

127
00:07:06,080 –> 00:07:08,920
For if I were still pleasing
men, I wouldn’t be a servant of

128
00:07:08,920 –> 00:07:11,560
Christ.
But I make known to you,

129
00:07:11,800 –> 00:07:15,200
brothers, concerning the good
news which was preached by me,

130
00:07:15,520 –> 00:07:19,320
that it is not according to man,
for I didn’t receive it from

131
00:07:19,320 –> 00:07:23,320
man, nor was I taught it, but it
came to me through revelation of

132
00:07:23,320 –> 00:07:26,520
Jesus Christ.
For you have heard of my way of

133
00:07:26,520 –> 00:07:30,760
living in time past in the Jews
religion, how that beyond

134
00:07:30,760 –> 00:07:34,200
measure I persecuted the
Assembly of God and ravaged it.

135
00:07:35,240 –> 00:07:39,560
I advanced in the Jews religion
beyond many of my own age, among

136
00:07:39,560 –> 00:07:42,600
my countrymen, being more
exceedingly zealous for the

137
00:07:42,600 –> 00:07:45,880
traditions of my Father’s.
But when it was the good

138
00:07:45,880 –> 00:07:49,840
pleasure of God who separated me
from my mother’s womb and called

139
00:07:49,840 –> 00:07:52,960
me through His grace to reveal
His Son in me, that I might

140
00:07:52,960 –> 00:07:57,160
preach him among the Gentiles, I
didn’t immediately confer with

141
00:07:57,160 –> 00:08:00,880
flesh and blood, nor did I go up
to Jerusalem to those who were

142
00:08:00,880 –> 00:08:04,240
apostles before me.
But I went away into Arabia.

143
00:08:05,320 –> 00:08:08,920
Then I returned to Damascus.
Then after three years, I went

144
00:08:08,920 –> 00:08:12,680
up to Jerusalem to visit Peter
and stayed with him 15 days.

145
00:08:13,240 –> 00:08:16,960
But of the other apostles I saw
no one except James, the Lord’s

146
00:08:16,960 –> 00:08:19,640
brother.
Now about the things which I

147
00:08:19,640 –> 00:08:23,040
write to you, behold, before God
I’m not lying.

148
00:08:23,480 –> 00:08:26,040
Then I came to the regions of
Syria and Silesia.

149
00:08:27,080 –> 00:08:30,200
I was still unknown by face to
the assemblies of Judea which

150
00:08:30,200 –> 00:08:34,000
were in Christ.
But they only heard He who once

151
00:08:34,000 –> 00:08:36,919
persecuted us now preaches the
faith that he once tried to

152
00:08:36,919 –> 00:08:39,880
destroy.
So they glorified God in me.

153
00:08:40,880 –> 00:08:44,840
Then after a period of 14 years,
I went up again to Jerusalem

154
00:08:44,840 –> 00:08:47,760
with Barnabas, taking Titus also
with me.

155
00:08:48,760 –> 00:08:52,320
I went up by revelation, and I
laid before them the good news

156
00:08:52,320 –> 00:08:55,440
which I preach among the
Gentiles, but privately, before

157
00:08:55,440 –> 00:08:58,920
those who were respected, for
fear that I might be running or

158
00:08:58,920 –> 00:09:03,280
had run in vain.
But not even Titus, who was with

159
00:09:03,280 –> 00:09:06,280
me, being a Greek, was compelled
to be circumcised.

160
00:09:07,360 –> 00:09:10,320
This was because of the false
brothers secretly brought in,

161
00:09:10,600 –> 00:09:13,600
who stolen to spy out our
liberty, which we have in Christ

162
00:09:13,680 –> 00:09:18,400
Jesus, that they might bring us
into bondage, to whom we gave no

163
00:09:18,400 –> 00:09:22,200
place in the way of subjection.
Not for an hour that the truth

164
00:09:22,200 –> 00:09:25,920
of the good news might continue
with you, but from those who

165
00:09:25,920 –> 00:09:29,400
were reputed to be important.
Whatever they were, it makes no

166
00:09:29,400 –> 00:09:32,360
difference to me.
God doesn’t show partiality to

167
00:09:32,360 –> 00:09:35,200
man.
They, I say, who were respected,

168
00:09:35,200 –> 00:09:39,640
imparted nothing to me but to
the contrary, when they saw that

169
00:09:39,640 –> 00:09:42,840
I had been entrusted with the
good news for the uncircumcised,

170
00:09:43,920 –> 00:09:46,680
even as Peter with the good news
for the circumcised.

171
00:09:47,120 –> 00:09:49,600
For he who worked through Peter
in the apostleship with the

172
00:09:49,600 –> 00:09:52,760
circumcised also worked through
me with the Gentiles.

173
00:09:53,200 –> 00:09:57,200
And when they perceived they
grace that was given to me,

174
00:09:58,200 –> 00:10:02,080
James and Cephas and John, those
who were reputed to be pillars,

175
00:10:02,440 –> 00:10:05,760
gave to Barnabas and me the
right hand of fellowship, that

176
00:10:05,760 –> 00:10:08,760
we should go to the Gentiles,
and they to the circumcision.

177
00:10:09,800 –> 00:10:13,200
They only asked us to remember
the poor, which very thing I was

178
00:10:13,200 –> 00:10:16,720
also zealous to do.
But when Peter came to Antioch,

179
00:10:16,880 –> 00:10:20,040
I resisted him to his face,
because he stood condemned.

180
00:10:21,080 –> 00:10:24,760
For before some people came from
James, he ate with the Gentiles,

181
00:10:25,320 –> 00:10:28,960
but when they came he drew back
and separated himself, fearing

182
00:10:28,960 –> 00:10:32,200
those who were of the
circumcision, and the rest of

183
00:10:32,200 –> 00:10:36,040
the Jews joined him in his
hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas

184
00:10:36,040 –> 00:10:38,040
was carried away with their
hypocrisy.

185
00:10:39,080 –> 00:10:41,880
But when I saw that they didn’t
walk uprightly according to the

186
00:10:41,880 –> 00:10:45,640
truth of the good news, I said
to Peter before them all, If

187
00:10:45,640 –> 00:10:49,880
you, being a Jew, live as the
Gentiles do, and not as the Jews

188
00:10:49,880 –> 00:10:54,160
do, why do you compel the
Gentiles to live as the Jews do,

189
00:10:55,240 –> 00:10:59,640
we being Jews by nature, and not
Gentile sinners, yet knowing

190
00:10:59,640 –> 00:11:02,480
that a man is not justified by
the works of the law, but

191
00:11:02,480 –> 00:11:06,080
through faith in Jesus Christ,
even we believed in Christ

192
00:11:06,160 –> 00:11:10,680
Jesus, that we might be
justified by faith in Christ and

193
00:11:10,680 –> 00:11:13,600
not by the works of the law,
because no flesh will be

194
00:11:13,600 –> 00:11:15,320
justified by the works of the
Law.

195
00:11:16,400 –> 00:11:19,160
But if while we sought to be
justified in Christ, we

196
00:11:19,160 –> 00:11:20,960
ourselves also were found
sinners.

197
00:11:21,120 –> 00:11:25,920
Is Christ a servant of sin?
Certainly not, for if I build up

198
00:11:25,920 –> 00:11:29,160
again those things which I
destroyed, I prove myself a law

199
00:11:29,160 –> 00:11:31,920
breaker.
For I, through the law, died to

200
00:11:31,920 –> 00:11:33,680
the law, that I might live to
God.

201
00:11:34,760 –> 00:11:37,760
I have been crucified with
Christ, and it is no longer I

202
00:11:37,760 –> 00:11:42,160
who live, but Christ lives in me
that life which I now live in

203
00:11:42,160 –> 00:11:44,520
the flesh.
I live by faith in the Son of

204
00:11:44,520 –> 00:11:47,520
God who loved me and gave
himself up for me.

205
00:11:48,040 –> 00:11:52,080
I don’t reject the grace of God,
for if righteousness is through

206
00:11:52,080 –> 00:11:54,280
the law, then Christ died for
nothing.
